[Suggestion] Future PvP update
a good PvP mod, could be like few groups have the same mission, in the same planet and same objective, so they have to fight for this. Could be insane

Jackal112Agreed - I was thinking that at the start of session you could pick if you randoms (not in your Steam friend list) can join your session/drop (if you do then maybe the rewards will be better since its more risky), then during the drop itself the players can choose to fight each other or work together. Then as they get closer to the end of the session/drop that trust might be tested as the players have to decide if they will share the spoils with randoms or kill each other and take all the resources for themselves when they leave the planet.

NorbuI greatly appreciate, that this game is build to be played coop. While there are tons of PvP survial games out there, there are very little coop survival games where you don't have to suffer from a toxic community, newbie killers and so on.
Abused PvP and toxic communities killed many great games like Rust or have become the main issue (Day-Z)... -

DavePvP option would be great for those that like it, but if it's implemented, please make it a clear opt-in/out search option when looking for sessions to join so there are PVE only and PVP allowed sessions.
Some of us would much rather play cooperatively with friends against known AI capabilities than join the typical free-for-all of a PVP server. -

JaysonPhoenixno way, absolutely no! stop demanding pvp in every god damn game already! pvp doesnt have to be everywhere and if you want to play pvp then go play a pvp game instead of demanding pvp in pve games! i hate this, it happens to every game lately and sadly devs often follow these demands so they can sell the games to a wider range of customers, but this has to stop! devs must grow the balls to say "no, if you want pvp then go play a pvp game instead of ours"! this one is even advertised as pve so no way. i used to like pvp back in the day but nowadays i refuse to play pvp games since EVERY pvp game turned into a toxic playground for gankers griefers raiders, horrible... and as soon as theres the option to pvp in a game it gets toxic and the usual excuse for kill everything on sight is "its a pvp game, if you dont like it go somewhere else", like its normal to kill everybody just because you can kill each other, also causes shoot first in case the other would shoot too fear-scenarios...

Would there be a way to make a Prospect/Claim that people who want to PVP can jump on?
Lore:
There is a section of map (the Claim) that is reporting large amounts of Exotics. Be warned! The claim is first come, first served and anything goes. Hostile prospectors may be in the area so stay alert!
I know this is not a priority for the game, but was just an idea I had to open it up to PVP. The same penalties could still apply for deaths and not making it off planet in time. Obviously I am oblivious to how the missions will work as well. -

ChickensaltThe difference in the community's in rust PVE and PVP is like night and day. Please dont add pvp to this. This game is shaping up great with us versing the wilds. When you add pvp you will most likely split the dev team down to work on each side and then less content will be made with greater time frames between releases. Nothing will kill this game faster then slow and lengthy times between updates of all shapes and sizes....*cough* valheim *cough*

SquigglypotamusAs an opt-in, this would be ok. If it were mandatory PvP, I'd just ask for a refund. Survival and brars/wolves/mysterious alien critters are one thing.. Devious spawn campers and offline raiding wuold just make this beautiful game into a Rust clone.

Nyquilus DillwadPVP will increase the player base 1000X but should not be the focus. There should be a free to play PVP mode only option for the games. Possibly a Hunger Games style arena would would be epic! Start with nothing run and grab weapons or run it into the forest and try to craft and survive. In addition adding some optional PVP missions in the core game would bring in friends that only play PVP games.

Volpe_K4I say a resounding yes to PVP. I would say go so far as to add 3-5 alien race/faction tree. Missions to those planets/areas to kill or collect to biologically augment your kit back at your ship. So players can incorporate theese alien abilities. To balance you could plant resources on missions/planets to use abilities and place resources an appropriate distance from drop zone so no insta gibbing noobies and the drop site.
It could be fun to go in a direction were killing a player with alien abilities would also give resources to player to earn alien abilities. This could make for some very fun isometric pvp with 8 players with iron weapons and tool could attempt to up there kits with alien resources by taking down high level alien augmented players.
I would even go on to say I would sit and enjoy watching a stream with 8 subscribers hunting a popular streamer who has high level alien agments on a small planet or limited mission area. -

ExiledlettuceI think they could let us chose to do the missions in PvE or PvP and the rewards you get from PvP gets boosted since you have to fight others and there's a chance to not get anything.

I feel the current game structure is so cool and I truly feel your coding/solution/whatever you did to create the co-op lobbies that anyone can host is revolutionary and pave the way for many improvements in many other games like 7DTD, Ark, Valheim, etc. that are plagued with user vs dedicated server challenges. Son hats off to your small team of developers - wow!
Throwing my thoughts into the abyss on cool PvP ideas. I think having a separate instance you can matchmake for PvP is key, instead of trying to combine it with the current PvE missions. In the instance you could have a few game modes with various # of teams and sizes, e.g. 1v1, 3v3, 2v2v2, 4v4v4v4, etc. 1 game mode can be to drop each team equidistance from an exotic deposit to mine and escape with first and PvP is on the table with current knockdown/respawn. Another mode could be, a hardcore-style deathmatch with knockdowns but no respawn (winning team is last standing). -

It would be admirable on the part of the developers to allow players to be able to rent servers that they can configure in their PVP or PVE way: weather, metabolism, fauna, gathering ratio, starter kit.
It would be enough to use the outpost (sand box) as a map.
this would allow the games to provide a much more engaging multiplayer experience.
Thus the game could reach a wider audience. -

Alegost MergedMy idea comes from The Division - Survival mode which was popular among both PvE and PvP players, because it had a PvE and PvEvP version too.
- A matchmaking fills up a session with players.
- The session should be hosted 24/7 on official server, so there is no host migration when players leave.
- Players are given a special character with tweaked tech/perk tree, so their progress and lvl from the main game don't give them advantage/disadvantage.
- Players land at different parts of the map. They have to survive and compete for the rare materials(rare metals, exotics), then extract and get reward for it.
- Death should be permanent. Disable the respawn, but let players revive each other.
- The weather should become harsher as the days pass.
- Bringing in workshop items should be allowed. It would give some actual use and value for those item.
And so on(the description text field limit it too low :P)... It is just a rough idea and would need much more tweaking. -

Ningu MergedThis game has a lot of potential to be a survival pvp game, it already has grenades that take sulfur to craft, if it just had door locks and more explosives it has insane potential to be a great pvp survival base raiding game, environmental dangers and PVE spice it up even more, the leveling system would work perfectly with it too, solo perk tree and a multiplayer perk tree, if all metal nodes are in caves and respawned every so often, they would be good hotspots to fight for materials, basing in different biomes can make it harder to raid you, another idea i had is if the servers had a time limit like the missions do players could farm for exotics to bring into the next server wipe to help jumpstart their progression, I think its an amazing idea and maybe a lot of people would love a game mode / servers exactly like this, your game is great and the potential it has is insane, thanks for making an amazing game.

SamanthaNot necessary at all. This is a different sort of survival game and has little to do with communities/groups in conflict which would be the reason for pvp. Besides, it isn’t like you can’t fight/shoot/kill each other for fun if you want to. Just make the agreement with each other that that is how you want to play it. . . and go for it. No reason to muddy a game which is geared towards cooperative pve because you need a battle royale fix.
Additionally, of everyone who I play with, we are here because this is the first true PVE focused survival game we’ve seen. Go PVP, you’ll lose a huge player base. -

Matthew2455I have almost 500 hrs in Icarus ATM and I have not only played with the idea of PVP but have actively engaged in this on my server.
It's not as crazy as people think, believe it or not the building tree is amazing for keeping groups of players from breaking your base.
Is also encourages making sure you have really good food buffs at all times which makes my farming tree even more useful.
We made it a rule to not bring any workshop items and no offline raiding, it is been a ton of fun, although I wish we couldn't see each other on the map. That is the only change I would like to see soon.
