[Suggestion] Proximity based voice chat
Imagine having a base camp with a few friends. The more adventurous friend goes out into the forest to look for Oxyte. But it's nearing night fall and he hasn't come back!
Meanwhile in their play through, they try to contact basecamp but only hear static. They are truely on their own.
This leads to dramatic and heroic moments commonly only seen in movies and TV.
Let's bring heroism to our players.

JohnsonGreat suggestion. The group I play with is also really missing in-game voip. This is a really nice and immersive feature, and also necessary for when strangers play together. Communication is vital to good teamwork - let's get great VOIP in-game asap.

Clipper SteenI wholeheartedly support this critical IMPROVEMENT to the game. For a multiplayer-focused game not to have an integrated VOIP capability seems like an all terrain vehicle with 2 wheel drive or a submarine with a screen door. Yes, I know Dischord exists but why rely on 3rd party SW. The easier Rocketwerks makes team collaboration, the more people will form teams and get more out of the game.

TheLawGivarArea Voip is honestly one of the biggest features I would love to see added to the game. a lot of times when in a voice call you want to talk one on one. It adds a lot of immersion as well as helps control larger group conversations. Imagin someone is out in a storm and the weather is so bad the radio coms are so scrambled you can't contact them until it passes, or you are working on something with one other person but don't walk to try and talk over the rest of the group. The game has a huge potential for small form RP that I know many in the RP community would enjoy. If there are a fear of trolls or people harassing players in open lobby over Voip it should be an easy enough toggle to fix the issue. Hopeful the game will add this feature as!

TheLawGivarThis is not only great for immersion but also regular gameplay. With a group of 8 its easy to have a cluttered chat when you're working on something directly with a smaller group. Area voip helps to fix this issue immensely.
I also love the idea of the radio going static during a storm. How great would that be to loose radio coms in the middle of a big storm? -

CoretallessProximity Chat can also be used so that those at base camp can continue to talk and Chat while a hunting/gathering party can discuss & coordinate with out the casual banter of the base camp.

stb155Maybe after public lobby and matchmaking have been added.
Also i fear, that if it not optional/switchable (the proxy based part) 99% would still use external VOIP, since there are many situations where you may want to talk to ppl further away.
IMO it would only work when you can switch in game between FM/satcom channel or something like this.
