[Bug] Benches/crafting often use too many resources on clicking max on craft
I had 1200 sticks and clicked max for tree sap so it should be 300 but its capped at 100 so I click to craft 100 and it uses all 1200 sticks but only crafts 100 tree sap

Corsta Mergedi have only done this with gun powder so far, I had 1800 sulfur and charcoal i clicked max and it started crafting 100, however it used all the resources.

Thorinrazer MergedIf you have enough stone/wood to create 2 or more "piles" or stacks and queue them at the same time one will go to your "G" slot and the other will be lost.

MK MergedI attempted to move a stack of rocks from one bin to another and it disappeared. I also had all my oxygen rocks disappear when placing on the oxygen maker. The graphic showed them under the oxygen maker, but the oxygen maker was still 0/50. They were not in my inventory or in the crate I removed them from either. I could also not see any of these resources on the ground as if they had just been dropped.

Prospector-pete MergedGlad to see this listed. Two of us were testing this yesterday and it does not hapoen every time but we did experience general loss with stone piles. Ensured we had 100, 200, 300, 400 stone in inventory and crafting max amount. Sometimes all would be crafted and pop out of inventory as crates (since the piles are heavier than the mats go figure) and other times only one/some of them and all stone would be used.
Also tried crafting just one at a time with 168 stone in inv and all stone was used on one occasion.
Very inconsistent. -
30 Aug, '21
Thorinrazer MergedI can also confirm that I had multiple cases where 100+ stone was consumed to make a pile. When pile was collected only received 100 stone. Also applies to wood.

Frigus Mergedsame. first time I tried it they popped out into crates and I didn't know about the G key yet. of course I figured it out right after they decayed. no biggie. later I tried to queue 2 stone stacks. One crafted and then the queue acted like there was something else crafting, but nothing happened, even after placing the stack. I ended up hitting the clear queue button and didn't get the resources back.

Starazer MergedI was seeing similar issues with the wood construction. Seemed to be occurring when the stacks of different materials switched.

Rough MergedIf there is no space in a crafting item's inventory and you attempt to craft anything the resources will be instantly consumed but nothing will be crafted. There is also an issue where the same thing will happen if there is a queue of an item that you personally have not unlocked is being crafted by someone else who has.

[Green] MergedWhen crafting gunpowder in my case specifically, I had several hundred sulfur (more than 10 stacks) and charcoal (less than a single full stack) in the mortar and pestle, selected to craft 65 gunpower, but instead of pulling out 1 sulfur for each craft, it took an entire stack of 50 sulfur for each single gunpowder until it got to the last stack of sulfur (23 or so) where then it did several crafts from nothing but charcoal, then polished off the last stack to finish my 65 gunpowder perfectly and leave me with no sulfur at all.

Gumbicus MergedHad 140 stone and crafted 5 items costing 20 stone each, this consumed all stone I had. Later had a max craft of 19 roof panels but chose to make 15, this consumed all stone again.
Performing single craft's, 2's, 10's and max crafts did not predent the issue -

Valkerion MergedBug experienced when adding ~600+ sticks to mortar&pestle, hitting max craft tree sap, then craft (100). immediately, the 200 (extra) sticks were deleted, ending with 100 sap, and only a couple sticks.

Lisa Botnmark MergedBIG problem. When you go to craft anything in the stations. It steals your stuff if you max it out! Example. I wanted to make epoxy, so i need to make tree sap. So, 1 box of tree sap = 4 sticks. I put in 1200 sticks witch would be 300 tree sap... i got 100, because that's the max limit on the bench... but it took all 1200 sticks! twice...

Mr face face MergedI select the item I want to craft in the mortar and pestle.
I hit max and it creates the items.
If I then select another item in the mortar and pestle to craft, it will have the craft quantity the same as the previous item, but the craft button it greyed out.
To be able to craft the second type of item I must exit out of the mortar and pestle, then go back in. -

Chris MergedWhen you use a crafting station or craft off your body and use Max craft, and then select another item, it tends to bug out. Sometimes if you do this then max craft another item, it won't craft or the counters will be off and max craft won't work. If you get it to do anything at this point, it kicks off one of the major memory leaks that eventually quickly crashes the game.

Averoin MergedWhen crafting stuff like "Carbon Paste" the mortar and pestle uses up way more items then it should. Its not just the carbon paste as "Organic Resin" has also done it to me. With the carbon paste I had put 100 Aluminium Ingots in the mortar and pestle and set a crafting amount of 50 carbon paste which requires 50 Aluminium Ingots but when it started the craft it used up all 100 Aluminium Ingots. In total the 50 Carbon paste cost me 31 Silica Ore, 100 Aluminium Ingots, 89 Organic Resin, and 42 Epoxy. It should have cost me 50 Silica Ore, 50 Aluminium Ingots, 200 Organic Resin, and 100 Epoxy.

ArmineConfirmed on Mortar also for flour. 1121 wheat added, created Max amount (100), ended up with 100 flour and random leftover <10 stacks wheat. Re-stacked the wheat and had 12 remaining.

Optmusprime Mergedwhen I tried to make the electronics for the dehumidifier. I qued 21 electronics in the machine bench. when the crafting was done all of the gold (164) and copper (246) ingots were gone 1/2 of the epoxy (40/84) was used and the organic polymer was used and when the crafting was done there were only 14 electronics produced.
-
12 Sep, '21
TravisThis happened to me too, but it wasn't just the Mortar, for example I was crafting shotgun shells which only take one copper ingot, I had ~200ish ingots in the machining table and only clicked to make 32 shells which should be 32 ingots, but instead it took 196 ingots. This was happening for any amount of anything I tried crafting UNLESS I crafted 1 single item per click of the craft button (which gets tedious very fast, especially after loads of precious resources have deleted themselves)

DerProfZockt MergedAfter crafting one recipe with the "max" button and selecting another recipe the max button sometimes doesn't work. When it works, the craft button is greyed out and I need to leave the station and return to fix it.
Happened to me mostly at the morsel when crafting epoxy after tree sap. -
13 Sep, '21
MattI had written down something similar to report but I didn't know it was using up ingredients when it shouldn't be, but I wasn't watching carefully on that.
I think we should be able to do the actual max and not just capped at 100. If we can make 999 then it should go to that, afterall it's a "max" button and not "attempt to make 100" button. -

Dionaea MergedOver 2000 wheat was loaded into the herbalism bench, and the max option was selected. The digital readout said 100 flour would be produced, even though over 200 should have been produced given the resources in the bench. When turned on, the bench did produce 100 flour as the readout said. However, the bench consumed all the wheat resources, not just 1000 wheat as the recipe suggests. Moreover, it was observed while production was running that entire wheat stacks disappeared, and frequently the remaining wheat stacks would not decrement (none of them) when new flour was produced. It is unclear how many different bugs are present here, but at the least there is a bug in the function of the "max" option (overconsumption of resources), and possibly a bug in the graphical update of the bench (even on a solo game) that might be related to the "max" bug.

ChristosHad a similar issue with lost ingredients.
When crafting at a crafting station, and the item is expensive / production (animation) is slow, if I use another item from my inventory (I eat something), animation speeds up x1000, max items are made and remaining ingredients past max are lost.
Can't reproduce now, happened before BW2 closed. -
13 Sep, '21
Dionaea MergedIt is a bit worse than this: Next, I set the production amount to 100 without hitting "max" and the bend still consumed over 2400 wheat.

Valkerion MergedObserved issue recipe: Carbon Paste
Resources that queued to craft 29 carbon paste:
craft: 29 aluminum, 116 resin, 58 epoxy, 29 silica
had: 74 aluminum, 283 resin, 58 epoxy, 200 silica
used: **74 aluminum, 94 resin, 44 epoxy, 22 silica**
Video evidence: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/884630186988040242/886890749323513926/Icarus_Bug_-_Deleting_craft_materials_2.mp4
None of those amounts ended up correct, eating all the aluminum I had in, and yet using less than stated for the other three ingredients. I have seen similar issues with many other things;
Tree sap will eat any extra sticks you have, (craft [100] = 400 sticks, if you have 600 for example, it will delete two stacks. Seen worse with more.) - Reported as a bug already earlier, didn't realize this is widespread.
Composite chest, only uses 20 carbon fiber when it states 24.
And just very odd behavior in general in crafting things, the way stacks are consumed, etc. The above examples I have checked 100% with r -

Dionaea MergedThis may be true for every production line on the herbalism bench (and maybe other benches as well). I just repeated this experiment with flour. With two stacks of flour (one full and one half), I asked for max bread dough. This would be 30 bread dough under the current recipe. I observed the bench take from both stacks simultaneously, and usually take more than a total of 5 flour from both stacks.
It seems the only workaround for the production process to prevent overconsumption (until it gets patched) is only to place one stack of each ingredient in the bench at a time so that it cannot steal from additional stacks and overconsume. If this affects other benches as well, then players would do well not to use a bench inventory to store more than one stack of anything that bench can consume through production. -

ChexX MergedRepro steps:
1) go to Mortar and Pestle, queue up something such as gunpower (i queued up 100)
2) exit mortar and pestle, open another chest and take some more sulfur
3) open mortar pestle and ctrl + click the sulfur in your inventory and notice they simply disappear
maybe a different bug:
- after repro-ing the following steps:
1) take any existing sulfur from the devices inventory and notice that the crafting queue is cleared
expectation: to have a butt ton of gunpowder
reality: 200 sulfur lost -

Gizmow MergedAll of the mortar pestle crafting is janky. I had times when it would consume what it considered all of the items needed to craft the set amount. Then when exiting and reopening the mortal pestle, there was no longer a central indication of crafting, only one in the top right. I.E. 50 Carbon Paste used 20 epoxy, 50 alum ingots, 10 silica ore, and 42 resin. It used materials for the first 2 craft and then for the last several crafts, but all of the middle processes were free and I was left with many extra materials. Also 50 epoxy used 224 sap and 99 sulfer. Craft 100 epoxy and it used 103 sap and the full amount of sulfur. The way crafting stations are programmed to pull and utilize resources is currently inaccurate and inefficient.
-
14 Sep, '21
Gizmow MergedSimilar, I set the machine to craft 3 electronics, and finished 2 crafts but still used resources for 3. It crafted the first 2 and then finished crafting the 3rd, but didn't place it into the completed window. I thought it was lag at first, but turns out it was the gold gremlins.

cmicroc MergedMost of the Mortar Recepies seem to be bugged.
For Example:
Place 1000 twigs in the Mortar.
Select Tree Sap, Click Max button.
Recips shows it has 1000/400 items available.
Click Craft.
100 Tree Sap will apear
But there will ONLY be 2 or 3 twigs left in the Mortar
Place 400 twigs in the Mortar.
Select Tree Sap, Click Max button.
Recips shows it has 400/400 items available.
Click Craft.
100 Tree Sap will apear
But there might be 2 or 3 twigs left in the Mortar...
As reported here and elsewhere other recipies also over consume resources -

Braden MergedI put around 1600 sticks in the mortar and pedestal to craft 400 tree sap. I clicked max to craft 100 and it used all 1600 sticks but only gave me 100 tree sap. I think the max button might be broken. It did this on other tables as well with different resources.
