[Suggestion] Make deeper and more interesting caves to explore
Right now the caves are all pretty shallow, deeper branching caves would make for great bases as well as allowing for more exploration of the mountains in general. Passages to other biomes via cave could also be an interesting addition, perhaps even underground biomes especially once more alien content becomes available with the DLC.

Right now all the important resources are in caves, but they're also the safest place in the game. The debuffs are taken care of with an early tier medicine or a simple fire. Instead of having hostile animals roaming the overworld and basically just slowing down travel move them into the caves so they turn into mini boss fights for the actually useful resources. You could even randomize the encounter for each cave in each prospect to add some more randomness, since the map is fixed.
Yes please, there needs to be more big caves, that arnt all the exact same cave. as is there is like 4 caves, just copied and pasted. Make them bigger, make them unique. Maybe make small monsters spawn, like rats or snakes, and MORE nodes!
Mines are plain and boring. There are many more dangers you could add. Such as:
- Add wolves/bears into the caves. They would totally live in there at times, especially bears.
- In caves with water, some spots where it looks shallow, could be a very deep water hole with several Piranha's. Falling in would cause your torch to go out, leading to a very dangerous situation.
- Add in well-concealed crevasses, much like the arctic. Was alot of fun accidentally falling in.
- Add in cave snakes into the water.
- During heavy rain storms, some caves could flood, causing much cold/hypothermia quickly.
- Bats. Definitely need bats. They would freak people out, and could cause minor injuries and infections/disease.
- Occasionally falling stalagmites while mining... quite dangerous.
- Pits with large jumps to be made, with heavy fall damage consequences.
- Caves with sub-caves hidden within them behind false walls. On occasion, mining these walls would breach a toxic gas

Back to back caves that can be used as a tunnel under mountains.
In BW5 I found a cave that was rather deep and large at the back of the cave. I had to lay out quite a few ramps in order to get to the nodes. There was also very deep water at one point. This mine was fun to explore and quite rewarding as there were many nodes that at first were not easily seen. Once I got lights put out and the ramps in place I kept finding more nodes. I'd love to see more caves like this.
I think it could be cool to introduce caves accessible from large bodies of water as well. Pop up inside of the air pocket of a submerged cave or something.
Great job on the existing caves. Love the glow worms and general ambiance, but more extensive cave systems with more exotic ores deeper in would be awesome. Thanks!
Make the caves large enough that you could get lost in them. Cave exploration could be very fun but, not how the caves are currently set up.
I agree. Caves could be expanded into better POI's.
Have caves that are higher up the mountains that you need to climb to get to possibly adding climbing equipment.
Some caves could have evidence of a past civilization (primitive or otherwise) that existed long before the terraform attempt. This could open up a number of options such as items, technology or missions.
Would really like to see more caves like the ones between M4 and M5 and especially the brilliant one between D10 and E11 (I do wish there was something at the other end of that cave swim). Most of the other deep caves are okay (Like F2 and C3), but most of the smaller ones seem like a waste once you have gotten your base iron and copper requirements. Maybe start replacing some of the current mid sized caves with something more complex in design and threats... make us think when entering a cave and make the rewards worth the effort.
Caves are just a copy/paste of each other. They all are pretty much identical when it comes to the sizes. Smalls are essentially identical, as are Mediums and Large ones etc. Yes there is some variation, but not so much you think 'ohh never been here before'. They are so similar if not identical, its a bit like daja vu.
Thank for making the Styxs Maps they are much more interesting terrain and cave system. The idea of having tunnels to go between biomes is awesome idea and would like to see more.
Also, down the road would like to see the ability to tunnel. Ability to make tunnels in rocks, have ores hidden in rock so you have to find them or come across them by chance, or have a scanner that helps locate to dig for them. Also have hazards involved in cave digging, cave ins, water flooding, come across subterranean caves access only be tunnelling where there are ICARUS creatures encountered. This would add a whole new dimension to the game and make it more interesting for sure.
OMG this is needed so much. And at the same time, please reduce the risk of getting pneumonia when wearing suitable armor.
