[Suggestion] Balance resources dropped per animal
It feels like the size and threat of animals plays no role in how many resources they drop. Bears should drop SIGNIFICANTLY more meat, leather, bone, and fur than baby deer, right now that is not the case.

Zackeryss MergedRight now, there is no way of telling if an animal is higher level than another at the moment. It's not a huge deal, but having a way to tell if an animal is at a certain level range would be great. That's why I would like to suggest higher level animals have thicker bodies and fur. A higher level animal surely is stronger than its lower level counterparts, and thus I feel it would make sense if the higher level animal appears more healthy and nourished. It doesn't have to be a complete remodel of the animal. Perhaps something like the attached image? This could enable players to check out their potential hunt from a distance, and gamble appropriately if the risk is worth the reward. Going up to a bear with several level 10-20 animals and seeing the bear is 60 is sad.
I think this suggested change could work. Also, there is no benefit to hunting higher level of deer/chamois other than XP. If this change is implemented, perhaps higher levels of animals could give more meat and fur? -

cmopatrick MergedChange meat received from hunting to be proportional to size of animal, both for normal meat and the newer high quality variant. For example, a chamois or wolf should not be able to give the same amount of meat as a buffalo (often 7 for both the former and only 7 for the latter). Further, a baby deer or rabbit shouldn't give as much specialty meat (in quantity) as a bear. With the current overdistribution of specialty meat, a hunter in both forest and desert biomes need not be concerned with non-meat foods once he/she builds a drying rack and has hunted baby deer, wolves, cougars, chamois, hyena, and/or rabbits for about fifteen minutes.
I would suggest classifying the huntable fauna in 4 groups: small, medium, large, and megafauna. Double both normal and specialty meat amount ranges with each class size increase. For example, both kinds of meat distributions could be scaled as: 1-2 for small, 2-4 for medium, 4-8 for large, and 8 to 16 for mega. -

DoktorvonWer MergedI agree, and this links in to the general over-abundance of meat, and the knock-on lack of difficulty in the food-related survival aspects. All these animals yield so much meat (even without upgraded knives) to entirely remove the food/hunger system as a challenge in the game.
