[Suggestion] Wounded States and Trails for Wildlife
My suggestion is to add wounded states and effects to wildlife as you do damage to them. This is a great immersive way to indicate to the player that you are doing damage and the creature is nearing death. For example bleeding, laceration marks, limping, torn off limbs perhaps, gouged eyes etc. are all possibilities for this. Bonus points if you could track down an injured deer by following a blood trail.

Travis MergedThis has quite a few potential iterations. For some sort of trail marking or development.
This would add realism and could aid in traveling back and forth between hubs or resource sites.
1. (More technical) Terrain deformation/grass thinning where a certain amount of foot traffic occurs. Example: grass turns to dirt when excessive foot traffic occurs. This Could slowly reverse over time if not constantly beaten down.
2. (Less technical) more simply some method for marking pathways like wood chip trails.
Some advantages could be quieter, faster travel, navigation so your not getting lost as much. -

Lothmorg MergedAnimals should be slowed after they are injured, based on their remaining health. This will allow the player to track and finish off the animal they’re hunting instead of them peppering everything that walks by.

Tony Mergedanimals that have been attacked should leave blood spots to enable tracking them

Travis MergedThe wood chip trails, could also be sand, crushed stone. This could progress into asphalt, paved roads i suppose if you want to take it that far in the vision.

Gamer DNA MergedAgreed, hitting a deer with an arrow or a spear for example and watching your quarry just turn and run away unhindered by this protruding object is nut immersion breaking. You might as well have just yelled at the animal!

Cory JamesSlowing the animals when damaged would be a good idea, but there is the pull of “dang it I missed”, I think they should run faster when wounded as adrenaline is a thing. But for a shorter distance.
