[Suggestion] Skinning Bench Automation
Since you can only skin one animal at a time on the skinning/crafting bench, instead of having to put the animal on the bench (or interact with it while it's on your shoulders), then interact with it again to select the animal type to craft, just have the crafting/skinning process begin automatically when an animal is placed on it.

SlothOcelotAbsolutely. There is only one purpose for this bench (so far), and only one way each animal can be "harvested". It would be great for the process to be automatic after adding the animal to the bench.

Allison J. MergedIt seems pointless to have to go into the bench's inventory and select what "recipe" you wish to use. Placing an animal carcass on the bench should automatically harvest/skin it.

Critical_Fail MergedAt present, the only point I can see to the SB is that it gives more fur than just skinning an animal where it died. With the ability to knife a skeleton to reward more bone, I have stopped building the SB because it gives me no benefit. I do not require the extra Fur that it gives over manual skinning. I get more bones from knifing the skeletons than the bench rewards. In order to make it more viable, it needs to do something to make it worth dragging an animal carcass back to it. Its output should be increased, or it should give some sort of bonus material that is not obtainable through manual skinning.

Bjorn MergedAgreed, came here to say the same. I've used it to my advantage now and used it as storage (they don't spoil). But I'm wondering if this is intended. I don't understand why if I place something in the big box it doesn't just auto-skin (as if by hand + extra returns). Its not like we can use the bench for something else.

Razor MergedThe exp from the bench should match the knife as well IMO. Kinda annoying to drag a corpse back and get 10% of the same exp.

TomTrustworthy MergedAlso the bench should be more intuitive to use. Currently you run up with an animal and use the bench.
The UI displays with that one animal highlighted on the left side that you have to click, then you have to click the button in the center to process it.
Using the radio button to only show the options that can actually be used is nice but it resets everytime you access the bench so it's really not useful.
Even a simple Process All/Craft All button in the center would be nice. So it pulls every animal from your inventory, into the benches inventory and then queues a job for all animals available. -

Kruz MergedI found that I get more Bones/Resources from skinning the animal with my higher tier knife. To reproduce, get a bench, put an animal on it, I believe it shows you the 20 bones that it gives you. You can do this with varying size animals to see it's 20 every time. Now kill any animal and skin it and see how many bones you get, and mine the bones themselves. I always get more than 20 bones. I haven't tested to see if the pickaxe makes a difference, but I usually get the iron knife very quickly into a mission.

DaVinci MergedI also agree with this and some comments. The experience should be more than skinning it by hand. If you think about it, Using a skinning bench technically takes more time and more skill. Also you have to build it..... I think there should be more options to make with fur and bones. It really adds up over time...

Greg D Lawson MergedI would like to see the skinning bench automated with a radio button to select outputs. Example if all you want is Meat and Bones the rest should go compostable materials. In longer missions you end up with so much Fur and Leather that you are throwing it away,

Routa MergedIt would be good that skinning bench would give more meat+prime meat. Now when I skin a boar with knife, I usually get around 15+ bacon from them but prime meat is still RNG based, but if it drops I usually get around 10+ white meat. If I use skinning bench only get 2 bacon and 2 prime meat, also bone count is much lower than skinning with knife.
So it would be good to either increase the meat/prime meat+bones count you get, when using skinning bench or add specific knife that increases you meat/prime meat+bones gain from skinned animals. Or as Greg D Lawson mentioned, add option to skinning bench, that lets you choose what you want to gain from animals you deliver to skinning bench. -

George MergedThe only issue I have with the SB is that you have to click on the animal type even though the bench recognises the animal that was loaded and hi-lights in blue. Can we have the SB work without having to click on the already hi-lighted animal, this is really redundant.
Also, would be nice if the skinning was automatic without click on "craft" since the only thing in the bench is to skin.
Lastly it would be nice that if the SB is close to a firepit or fireplace, or crafted MCX fire pit that the meat go directly to the device being used to cook it. -
