[Observation] RTX/DX12 Performance Poor
The performance of DX12/RTX needs improvement.
I'm very aware that making statements regarding performance can stem from many contributing factors and that finding root cause can complex. The recommendation is based on hardware and system state as well as comparing other gaming platforms performance.
I'm using a very capable system which should be keeping the FPS (at least) around 45-55 FPS (to be fair). Icarus BW7 (predeployment test) currently runs at 25-40FPS (99% of which is 35 FPS.
This performance just introduces to many factors that make the game not worth playing especially when you factor in the death penalties. You don't want to also have to start factoring in latency/performance deaths into picture.
The game is pretty and I applaud the work you've done and wanted to share in the hopes that you can find a way to improve the performance when using DX12/RTX.
My System is currently:
i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 64.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (Display driver: 496.76)

PixelpimpNZ12900K, 3080, 32GB DDR4-3200, All settings EPIC, DLSS Quality with Sharpness 1.0
DX11 - Mostly 80-90 FPS with occasional drops to 20FPS, Alt-Tab out and in fixes after 2-3 seconds. Drops to about 65-70 if hosting.
DX12 - Mostly 45-55 FPS with common dips to 15-25FPS, Alt Tab does not fix this, drops to 30-40FPS if hosting.
DX12 w/RTX/GI on - Mostly 15-25FPS, occasional dips to 3-8FPS, Setting DLSS to Performance, and sharpness to 0.5 gives about 5 more FPS.
Absolutely love the game, cant wait for release, and hope to see some optimizations asap =) -

AccendoAMD 5900X, 3080 Ti @ 4k
All settings EPIC, DLSS Quality ~15fps
Setting DLSS Balanced makes it playable but not great with around 35fps.
On DLSS Balanced - When going from Forest to Arctic biomes significant drop from 35fps to 10fps. Swirling ice was blowing around but not weather event -

Stormfury64 go ram, 3080 ti and turning on Rtx and running around with epic settings the game ran like molasses. I expected a hit but not unplayable.

Tycidei7-8086K OC @ 5.0GHz (LC), 64GB 2667MHz RAM, Samsung SSD 960PRO 1TB, NVIDIA RTX Titan (24GB VRAM)
Playing at 4k, DX12, All quality settings high except view distance to epic, DLSS on, sharpness 0.7, RTX on, RTXGI on, FOV 100:
frame rate was at 45-60 (limit set to 60). Game was using 17.9 - 18.4 GBs of VRAM.
Changed FOV to 120, Frame rate held solid at 60-61 (limit still set at 60) GPU use dropped from 100% to 93%. Same VRAM use.
No differences in frame rate noted between Hosting (1 other player), Client, and Solo.
Game was beautiful all through experimental7 and BW7 with very few frame drops and rare crashes. -

Around 30 fps with DX11 and DX 12, but drops to 6-12 fps when enabling Raytracing and GI. -

cmopatrickThe game is beautiful with epic settings, raytrace, and global, but the framerates are brutal when anything is happening. I've even started using a shotgun for closeup fights with predators because I can't keep the beautiful and still hit that which wants to kill my poor toon.
i5-11600, rtx3080ti, 48gb ram, win11, 4k monitor, and 8tb online storage. All drivers current. -

cmopatrickStill no joy. This week's performance upgrades seem to have missed us.
