[Suggestion] Invitation only
Missions should be able to set up to be by invitation only, or password protected. Some of us have MANY steam friends, some we know well, some we barely know from other games, and some of us would like to have a set group that does missions together in Icarus.

Will MergedI have had two incidents to occur now where a person who I can absolutely confirm is NOT one of my Steam friends joined my game. They proceeded to destroy my base. I heard the pod come down and proceeded back to my base as I was out farming. When I got there, they had destroyed it. I killed them and they then proceeded to respawn and immediately come back to me (they were using a speed hack of some sort as they were moving insanely fast). You guys need to address this kind of issue before another BETA weekend occurs. According to your staff, ONLY friends should be able to join these sessions and that is simply not the case. I have screenshots if they are needed.

JonnyO MergedThis happened to me last night, two random players <BLANK> ?????????, and MURDER CHARLES TTV joined my game with me and my 2 friends. (They are not part of either of our friends list). They Burned down out settlement and proceeded to kill us over and over again.
I choose to play PVE co-op games because I enjoy the challenges and time spent with my friends. If I wanted to spend what little time I have to play games dealing with situations like this I'd still be playing GTA. -

Michael MergedWe had a good time playing with friends on Friday and Saturday night until hackers came to destroy everything and kill us over and over. Despite the game being great, that killed our mood to schedule any playtime on Sunday for fear that it would happen again :/

BrickedKeyboard MergedNote that their ingame name != their steam name. So it might be a 'friend'.

Will MergedThe first person that joined my game had a character named <blank> as well. The steam name was simply "<". I confirmed that none of my friends had a < symbol in their name. Another person who had the same named person found the following which is the likely candidate:
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197977863182
The second person who invaded my game was also not a friend. The steam name was Z3NH3RO. The character was named PASTAMANIAC. The following Steam profile was the only matching one with the Steam name: https://steamcommunity.com/id/pwner83
Once again, I can confirm that neither of these people were or have ever been on my friends list. Both incidents were very similar in nature. Both were exploiting in some way to make them be able to run extremely fast. I can provide screenshots of the second time this happened if needed. -

Jag MergedI watched a streamer have several people stream snipe him by entering his prospect and burning what he was working on then logging off. He didn't have a way to deal with them and they now had access to his prospect for more griefing. He ended up quitting and refunding the game over it. Some form of protection is needed to keep things like that from happening.

Carl MergedAgreed, some way to lock out Prospects if you have a particular set of friends you want to play with but not others (people with large steam friends lists)

Gamer DNA MergedOr at the least make it so you can set a prospect to 'invite only!'

Squigglypotamus MergedThis would be a great idea. I have many people on my "friends" list that I played with for a few days, way back in history. I don't know who some of these guys are and really don't want to be trolled in prospect just because they were on the friend list for another game. Having either a password ot a pop-up request approval would be nice. "Your friend, Billy Joe Jim Bob, would like to join you on your prospect. Is that ok? =YES= =NO= "

Squigglypotamus MergedAdding an invite-only or prospect password option is a necessity. Trolling like this will be a game killer. Who in their right mind would play a game that allows random people to grief- especially when it's as simple to do as just walking through a campfire and then standing on someone's furniture?

Dilvish MergedEven with the fix made or planned for non-friends joining, everyone needs a way to keep their friends from innocently/accidentally joining their solo prospect. I suppose the game might currently give a slightly different set of prompts to the person joining the prospect based on whether they'd already been in that prospect or not, but that's a fragile approach and the first person should not have their solo prospect (with their solo talents build) be at the mercy of whether their friend is paying enough attention when looking to join the game.

Cory James MergedProspects should be invite only, or require confirmation from one other player in the prospect.

Bonnie MergedI joined a friend today in Icarus because we've played together in other games. Upon me entering his prospect mission, I was immediately followed by one of my associates on Steam. This person IS NOT a friend of the person who was hosting the game. Nor was my steam friend invited to play with us. He merely seen I was in-game and proceeded to touch down immediately after me.
We definitely need a game lock so that people can't just join a prospect that's in motion. While this steam person didn't troll us, he wasn't invited!!
I would like some sort of mechanism to keep "uninvited people" from simply entering a game because they feel like it. I've never played a game with this person and to have them simply log in to an existing prospect that I wasn't even hosting -- isn't kosher in my book.
Not having this issue resolved is a game killer for me. I won't continue playing if a lock isn't implemented before the release date. Thank you! -

Mr mr face MergedIf I’m hosting a prospect with no other participants I’d like to see an approve/deny confirmation for the host.
Most people are going to have a solo character (using solo talents that only work when they are alone in a prospect) and then have others join unannounced (their solo talent points then become useless).
It would only be necessary until a second person has joined (no approve/deny notifications for third to eighth prospectors joining) -

Michael Wynne MergedAdd a flag for solo prospect on the map screen. If checked, it will not allow allow other prospectors to join your prospect but you receive 2 additional tech-points and skill points per level. Disable the solo talent tree if the flag is not set. Maybe add a 20+ health and damage buff if it is.

Manachanter MergedThis, so much this! There isn't much point having a Solo tree which disables itself if someone else joined without the ability to lock your prospect to prevent others from joining. Yes, people on your Steam Friends List should be asking if they can join but... . Anyway, point being that there should be a way to manage your session to lock it, whether you have points in Solo or not. Thanks :)

DogVivor MergedAllow for a better selection and protection of ones' Prospect with a better use of the Steam Friends list or with another tool from inside the game.
At the moment, the way players invite friends to their Prospect is by adding them to their Steam Friends list, allowing anybody to join at any given time.
That can be a problem sometimes.
Examples :
Imagine a Streamer on a tough solo mission, joined by a player that ruins everything
Or some player invited on a Dev's Stream, and then bam, all his friends jump on the opportunity to join
Or even a Prospect with 7 players waiting for the 8th ruined, by the un announced arrival of another player -

Shazroth MergedIn addition to preventing other players joining the prospect a "solo prospect" should allow for all three of the character slots on the account that created it to join the prospect. That way even as a solo player you could make use of different specialisations in your characters depending on what you wanted to do next in your solo prospect.
ie: rather than try and make a solo prospector have more talents and blueprints, let a solo player get access to more prospectors -

Ennon MergedYes, there needs to be some sort of Prospect / Lobby settings for Privacy / Security, including an "Allow Others to Join" toggle

DemI had terrible experiences with this .. when you pug you cant be sure who is joining and who is gonna be a good team mate that works with you instead of running off to do their own thing and doing the missions without you. I agree we need a password protection of some kind. i dont keep a lot of friends on list but still i dont want to have to play invisible on my steam

EnnonHey admin FYI these other two previous topics are the same and should be merged into this one:
1) https://icarus.featureupvote.com/suggestions/225425/suggestion-solo-prospect-flag
2) https://icarus.featureupvote.com/suggestions/231739/suggestion-inviting-protecting-prospect
Adding protection lobby settings is actually a serious issue you should prioritize, thanks :) -

IcaJoeI like the suggestions "Invite only option" and "password protected prospect" and consider both essential.
Furthermore, I think it is necessary to have a blacklist and a whitelist to be able to respectively interdict/grant access. The blacklist would permit to block players, even if they are not currently logged in; An emergency "block all" could kick all players and prevent from joining (except owner). Figuring on the whitelist would be the precondition for getting invited or using a password for a prospect. -

sean maxwellI have had had people invite me because I posted on steams LFG page. some of the people naturally say they can't now, some other time. no worries there. well, I had a guy (don't know if it's against terms to list someone's account name, but I posted it on steam) who said they could not on two different occasions, and I ultimately forgot about them. when I had a drop going, I was leaving it open for friends because I was expecting someone else to join up to run the end of the drop with me. well, this other player who I mentioned joined. somehow, I get booted from my own game, I join back up and the guy removes me from his friends list. I get booted from my own drop and he is in control of it. we lost all of our progress and he was the owner of that drop. now I don't even want to play with friends because of allot of the stories I am hearing from other people that play. its sad because this is such a great game, I don't want cheaters, thieves, and trolls to kill it.
