[Suggestion] Improve Controller Support
You have controller support options in the game for Xbox/PS4/Switch, but they are not working. Everything is still keyboard UI and its very confusing.

pablo Mergedin addition to having a white mark on each menu making it very difficult to read, there are several options that there is no way to move the item directly to your inventory, needing to drag .....

Latespoon MergedSensitivity options in controls menu have no effect for me on xbox controller on either cursor speed in menus or aiming. Would be nice to be able to move through inventory/crafting menus with dpad. Quick key for moving stacks into crates etc e.g. hold a trigger and press a to move the stack. Button combos for other actions e.g. building actions such as to destroy a panel, rotate etc.

Latespoon MergedCould you please implement this one quality of life improvement for controller players: the ability to slow down cursor speed in inventory and menus. Trying to line up the cursor over a button with an analog stick is infuriating when it's so sensitive you just fly over the button every time. Sometimes it genuinely takes 10 goes to land on the right box

Robert MergedI see Rocket has already spoken but I felt I needed to say a few things. I play with the Xbox one control and it was a little cumbersome using what minimal controls there were available with the controller. I felt opening one box with one button and having to push a different button was odd. I agree with the OP to the point that gaming controls would be nice.

rickylix MergedThe previous beta there was no issues but BW3 when I click to bind RB or LB seem to do nothing. Attempted wired and wireless. No detection.

mike Mergedcannot crouch, or change controller settings without changing them for mouse and keyboard. mining wood, stone, ores cannot be mined with item highlighted and cursor on without being in a specific area. sometimes bow or knife will not work as well causing me a few deaths as well. my controller is new and have the same issue with older one and stamina bar was not yet depleted

ZogTheHog MergedI know controller support is coming, I would just like to add my 2 cents. I saw there was already an option for Playstation, which is good because I can use my Dualsense from my PS5 on PC. Just please make all of the controls remappable, maybe even the secondary building controls be able to be edited too!

Caleb Coey MergedController support is a must for me. I either have carpal tunnel or my wrist goes numb as an early symptom of MS. My friends want me to play with them, your game is causing me physical right wrist pain having to use both the controller and keyboard mouse to effectively play.
I want you guys to succeed and I want to play with my friends. All my current concerns are already listed here in the previous messages, if you would like to know my suggestion list for what to default buttons to or how to set up menu navigation differently than out of menu navigation please feel free to email me and I will put that together for you. It appears you are just pressed for time which is understandable just please do not dawdle too long... pain and all. -

All controller inputs are marked as [unbound] even though they are in fact bound. Because there is no defined binding, having trouble finding the controller equivalents to PC inputs :/

fdruidTried the game with a controller in the betas, and it was incomplete. I had to reach to my mouse to perform a lot of actions. I would love to have the game fully support controller input for every action in the game. Maybe toggles with command wheels could make the scheme easier to cram into the limited buttons. Other games, complex or simple, have managed to do it. I believe the devs could get to do it if/when they assign resources into it and this will not only serve to help those of us pc players who choose to play with one, but also pave the way for an eventual future console release.
I understand this is not a top tier code red priority right now, but I personally would have difficulty playing the game without full controller support so I'm still not playing it. -

Yeahwillis MergedAdd full gamepad support for xbox one controllers.
Half the game is played with the xbox gamepad, and keyboard and mouse.
Full support for the xbox one gamepad would be much appreciated;
such as:
full menu control, and proper key bindings.

Cipher 8 MergedThe keybindings for controller keybinds don't even save right now and everything is reset to default upon relaunching the game.
You're forced to switch to mouse to access menus and to choose Loot All and close loot menu.
But for those of us who switch between the two input types these are more concerning;
The settings don't save separately between the two keyboard and controller input types so you cannot set auto sprint toggle on/off for controller to on but not for keyboard.
Also the Mouse Sensitvity X bar speed is linked between keyboard and controller so you can't increase the controllers turn speed without making mouse super fast. -

Tony MergedI think the controller system is broke. It recognizes the controller as keyboard and mouse with bindings unless you force configurations off in steam. Doing this I noticed that the controller settings are sort of kicking in, but they seem half baked. I couldn’t scroll or move properly and there were no bindings. The controller should be it’s own settings and show the correct buttons when set (show controller buttons vs keys when in game) bindings should be for controller and stick.

RVTbh current controller support is like it was made by someone that has never played a modern video game. Not being able to tab between pages of the inventory/crafting/etc with the bumpers...what?

Tony MergedI know full controller support isn’t really baked in yet as it only recognizes steam controller comfigs. However, I’ve noticed that this is leaving it hard to aim. I have tested using a mouse, and using steam controller with “mouse” pad. It seems that the issue is when using a joystick, you can’t pinpoint. If I move the stick super slow it will do nothing then move a a bit instead of slowly moving allowing for accurate aiming. I know a joystick won’t be as accurate as moving a mouse, but I’ve played enough FPS games to know you should still be able to move tiny increments smoothly.
I’ve tried messing with dead ones and sensitivity and still isn’t helping me make tiny adjustments while aiming. If there’s a setting I can adjust that would be great. Otherwise please optimize the game for controller settings. The combat in general seems to need some love and optimizations. -

JT-If you are playing the game via Steam-
Although this is listed as planned, just adding that although ridiculously clunky you need to enable controller support via Steam Big Picture Mode for Xbox and PS4 controllers - . Once enabled, you can configure the controller via Steam through controller configuration in the Game Library - I am currently using the DS4 pad and I have mapped the touch bar as 4 buttons (as if it was another set of directional buttons). With X (pick up for certain items) mapped to the X button via tap and hold. You can map multiple functions via show activations and then add activator. The controller configurator built into steam is pretty robust once you get the hang of it. -

Kyojin MergedI’d really love some native controller support.
Not just remapping keyboard keys to controller keys, which always feels awkward.
Look at games like FFXIV and Path of Exile for some nice native controller keybindings that work with the game.
Good controller support would also make this game more attractive for people with the Steam Deck. -

TYanColteWhen you play exclusively PC games but have really bad Carpel Tunnel. A controller is super important. I use one all the time for as many games as I can as to not aggravate my condition. I love this game but it's freaking hurts after long game sessions.

Nick MergedDisappointing that almost a year later there's not been any enhancements to controller support. A significant number of changes seem like they would be somewhat easy to implement - even if you could just give us cursor control with the gamepad, that would make life so much easier.
