Due to the high amount of shrubs and elements around the location of your corpse the location of the fallen inventory is almost invisible.

Going just by the minimap (which is clunky) is almost impossible to locate.

Also building shelters to shield yourself from storms and putting bed rolls in them should mark them on the map in order to be able to return to them when / if needed.
