Solo Insurance for Hardcore
Not knowing the mechanics of how multiplayer affects the game, I am assuming the game does NOT scale with each online player; If so, that means the presence of more than one player makes the game easier through cooperation, which in turn means that the "hardness level" of each prospect is defined by playing solo... with multiplayer making is easier. With this in mind, I propose that the concept of buying insurance should be adjusted such that solo players playing with insurance on Hardcore prospects should be returned to station with all equipment intact and mission failed, as there is no way for solo players to recover equipment. This same penalty is not felt by multiple players as they can revive and continue the mission or abandon mission and keep equipment. Solo players that are willing to risk losing equipment can get greater rewards (by not buying insurance); Otherwise there is no incentive for Solo players to risk Hardcore missions as payout doesn't justify risk.

SpiceSo the point of insurance is to recover your character if left behind, by buying insurance on a hardcore mission and then utilising the insurance means your character will stay on the prospect for 90 days unless you stay the full time in game with out dying? That is just making the game even harder.
