Recurve Loadout Bow disappeared after dropping in water in cave

I accidently hit the wrong button and dropped my loadout recurve compound bow in the water inside a cave, I tried diving for it and saw it once but was unable to retrieve it because I died from cave worm poisoning. When I respawned and went back to cave, the bow disappeared from the water.
