Losing crouch when taking damage

I was killing wolves earlier today and I noticed that everytime I was crouched, I would stand up upon taking damage even when I'm not releasing the key. I notice wolf attack does a little "knockback" but I was still thinking that I should stay crouched as long as I press the key. I'm just wondering if its intended feature or a bug. To me it would seem like unintended action.
