say you have a collection box on top of waterfalls and pipe it to your base that below the falls

Could also use roof mounted rain collectors for plumbing things below or tower mounted rain collectors for watering crop plots without any pump required. Could run out of water if not enough rain. The suggested (elsewhere) t3 rain collector & water tank could also be used this way.

The metal reservoir sorta does this! But doesn't need gravity. It's a great option. Adding a passive collector in elevated running water would make base-building even more custom crafted to map locations, which, having players choose between multiple well-balanced benefits is always a good idea and encourages diversity in play.

I tried doing this a few weeks back and was quite disappointed that it didn't work! Logs roll downhill... water should be able to, too!
