lost all data after 774 hours of gameplay
I am a returning player who joined during beta/pre-release. I had every exotic item, every workshop item, played and beaten all of the quests on the map and when I came back to this game - Literally all data, acting like I've never played this game before. No idea who to contact, what to do or how to retrieve my items/progress or any of it, nor do I even know who to come to - > I had 2 fully decked out characters, the best workshop items and 2 - 4 of some of them... This is very rattling and frustrating with how many hours I put into this game and I don't know what to do, but it is extremely discouraging to buy the game for the family to encourage or bring them into the game when bugs/glitches like this happen.

Back in December, Icarus changed where it stores your game data. We migrated from a central server to storing your game data on your local PC. You can read more about this in our Week 53 update: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1149460/view/3611354355089820956
For the three months after this change, everyone loading the game had their data automatically migrated and downloaded locally. In March the central servers were closed and we no longer store your game or character data. Unfortunately we can't restore it for you.
However, some community members have been sharing instructions for altering your game files in order to build your characters up a bit quicker in our discord: https://discord.gg/surviveicarus . I've attached a screenshot with that.
