[Suggestion] Save Blueprint Builders
The proposal is a system allowing players to save their base designs. Using a new tool or mode, a player would select their build to create a "blueprint," which is saved to a personal library with a name, tags, and a material list.
To rebuild, the player would activate a "projection mode," displaying a "ghost" version of the base in the world. Construction would be guided, requiring the player to use the correct materials on each part of the projection.
Most importantly, players could share blueprints via the Steam Workshop or trade them in-game as "data disks." This would create a community of designers, allowing everyone to use, rate, and get inspired by others' creations. Builds would be restricted by tech tier, meaning players can only construct blueprints if they have unlocked the required technology.

jp MergedSeem, we loose all at the end of a mission, why wasting time building a nice house ? my architect side is frustrate. Need a way to keep our home sweet home as a base camp for other missions or just for the pleasure to have a nice place to rest.

Andrew MergedI was thinking of this as a game suggestion to address some of the concerns I have seen about having to rebuild your base each time you launch a new mission.
A blueprint system. You can have an item that is craftable on one of the workbench's called "Blueprint Generator" or something like that, you can go outside your base and use this item pointing it at your base, and it will take a snapshot of all the building pieces and how that are arranged essentially creating a blueprint of your current base. The game then stores that blueprint as an item in your inventory which you can take back to space with you.
Then on your next mission you drop down, and you can use that blueprint to quickly place down that blueprints base design. You would needed to have gathered all the required materials and resources to place the blueprint down. A couple of other survival, base building games have something similar to this. -

Roji MergedI would like to create a blueprint of a building that I made.
Like a basic shelter with floor, ceiling, 4 walls and a door.
So I can build in one step instead of 7. -

Joshakazam MergedHaving EVERY separate building piece be a separate blueprint is too much. condense them into 2 or 3 blueprint points for each type of building (wood, stone, thatch, etc.). maybe something like 1 point for floors, walls, pillars, ramps (the basics for making functional but not pretty things). 1-2 points for more of the fluff building parts like fences, hatches, triangle pieces, etc. It feels really bad having to invest 10+ blueprints to be able to build things plus this would alleviate a lot of the blueprint drought while still making specializing in group play advantageous.

Feary MergedAbility to save selected items as a blueprint in whole.
Ie: 4 walls 2 floors and one bed in one blueprint. -

ninjacow MergedWe should be able to save a blueprint of a created house and be able to place it down at a building location so that we have the entire layout setup and only need to gather the proper resources and then we can start building off the blueprint.

BeeSting89 MergedA workshop item that would allow you to prebuild a structure before dropping into a prospect. Only allow you to use the items you have invested tech points into. When equipped would show a highlight of your building blueprint before placing then you have to fill it with the necessary items to activate. Any prospectors would be able to add the items.

The_W0lf MergedOh yes...that would give the whole Base building even more sense. Considering you could leave stuff behind and use the old base later as some sort of outpost....

Al MergedIcarus has an amazing basebuilding capability. Unfortunately, the mechanics completely encourage people to do minimal base building and cram everything to as small an area as possible. Letting bases persist, at least in some form, would go a long way toward addressing this and the grind of constantly rebuilding.

FSD MergedSo you got your favorite starting building that you always build. Starts out with x support posts, then the walls, door, window, and roof pieces. But instead of manually placing it down every time. We can activate a prefab blueprint design. As long as we have the parts it will slap them down from the ground up.
Make this an account wide prefab tray. To add something to your prefab tray you have to build the item in game. This would make that iconic 1x1 building would be a super easy build with out having to go through all the different clicks necesary to build it. Or a slightly more complex building using the peak roof. This would simplify the problem of the building interface being needed to swap the filler triangle items for the walls. It would automatically install them all the right way. -

W2D2 MergedI think that would be overpowered. This way you can wait until you get a full whiteout or blackout and just slap down a base in seconds.
Also I think it's technically challenging because foundation is specific to the ground.... -

DaVinci MergedGather the resources and unlock prefab building,. It will save alot of time remaking the same building just to place a bed instead of always using a rock. And Tents. Igaloos. Teepee. And an actual log cabin. To where we dont have to chop all the trees into pieces.

Inoxcetor MergedThis suggestion would especially make sense if you could blueprint buildings built on outposts also and subsequently then be able to place those on prospect to be filled in with materials / components. It would give new meaning to the outposts, as a sort of prototyping / prospect preparation area. Now, personally at least, I find little use for the outpost unless wanting to start a new character in a 'safe' environment to grind the first few levels until you have access to all the basic stuff needed for survival. Even that use for outposts I find kind of marginal once you are familiar with the game mechanics ( 865 hrs and counting :) ).

Mike MergedThis could also evolve into buying ready to go prefab designs in the Workshop as another way to spend exotics. New builds could be created to either exist already on the planet prior to landing or involve some sort of automated build process via robotics while on site. New designs could be influenced by player builds. The possibilities would be endless. These builds of course would still disappear at the end of the mission.
I'm pretty sure structure persistence is not something that fits the game engine/design (as anyone who has built large structures finds to be the case as their FPS drops). But maybe this is one possible compromise, getting some "persistence" without permanently ruining the performance in your "world" due to building bloat. -

Paul Eldridge MergedI LOVE this idea, especially if they're "Orbitally Dropped" Prefab Buildings. Imagine if you use them as a single-use Workshop item, and when you deploy the beacon, the prefab building reenters the atmosphere and drops from the sky. Lands, unfolds in front of you, into a big cool building. That would be AWESOME.

Lianail MergedI like the idea of blueprints, but would implement slightly different than some suggestions. Just as you can see a highlighted position before placing a building piece, have the blueprint do that for all the pieces in a building. After the blueprint is active, just left click on the position highlighted in the world, if you have that piece in inventory, it auto-places it according to the blueprint. This should auto build things like doorways, windows, stairs and ramps, etc. As long as you have the base piece, the click builds the correct variant of it. If you don't have the piece, you get a buzzer.

LianailThere's another suggestion for blueprints, but I prefer this method. I suggested something similar for implementation in the other thread.
