[Suggestion] Make chests have an actual "loot all" button on the bottom instead of hitting F
I keep accidently moving my entire chest into my inventory, it'd be much better to have a loot all button under the chest inventory, so we are less likely to loot all and have to re-arrange our chests constantly.

BradAgree completely. I use f to open and then again assuming it would close like in every other game and end up frustrated everytime. Please change f to close whatever you've opened and have a seperate button for loot all
-

JurgenSecond that - it is annoying :). Open chest by pressing F, I almost always automatically hit F to close it as well but ... it will go the "Get all" action

WindsingerLoot all "AND" Store ALL button <3

Cyber TaniwhaI second this, it might seem crazy, but I press the button to open an inventory and I keep pressing it again to close it. Dragging inventory contents constantly was a pain in the butt...
-

ChrisAlso an option from Terraria that's an absolute crazy time saver for organizing, is a Store/Stack only button, that just stacks or adds to things that only exist in the chest already. This allows you to fast clear your inventory and stay organized into a row of chests really fast.
It's insanely useful if you guys get time to add it as a QOL down the road. -

Script_VariableSpacebar [ Jump ] is a solid option for "Take All", even if you just want to silent rebind it on the next hotfix patch, without a UI.
-
30 Aug, '21
joeYes! With a seperate setting to auto close the loot box when you "loot all".
-

Norbu"F" for "Take all" works fine when looting (u always want to take all from animals). It's bad for cupboards and boxes though.
Especially my cupboard next to the door turned into a nuisance: I was hitting F to open/close the door and instead ended with the entire content of the cupboard in my inventory... -

SplitsieI completely agree, perhaps R would be a valid default as it's immediate proximity to F makes it easy and is also used in some other games for that function e.g. 7 days to die
-
30 Aug, '21
GrundyYes please. I kept hitting F by accident every time I was in a chest lol
-

kookstaAgree, I did this probably 10 times before changing the bind from F to E for interacting with stuff.

HoodooThat same F button as the opening container to loot all was annoying, please fix this. Also autosort. All us survival players also have muscle memory for shift + right click to split and shift + leftclick to transfer. The icons were small and to similar for my old eyes. Thats all I have with storage slots.

Rusty KnowlesInteract Button should open and close the chest only. Would be great to see "Take All" & "Place All" buttons added to UI.

MsMirDurI think it would be great if while we are looting animal bodies, that after we loot, the menu auto-closes. But maybe with the wolves and bears being nerfed slightly...maybe it will reduce the chance of getting attacked while you're manually closing the window.

Dougfor the time being i have mapped my button to E, this lets you open the box without taking everything. F still works for Take all
-

DarlingUsing the Q key for *throw all my stuff in the box* would be funny. :)

KlabauterMannI like the idea that double - F - clicking just closes the container instead of manipulating anything. So you get feedback on your key-press, but you don't mess up all you sorted before.
-

Shoppy MergedIt is instinctive to use F again to close a box/container/table. Too many times I accidentally grabbed everything and had to slowly put everything back. It's very frustrating. F should also close whatever menu it opened.
-
13 Sep, '21
Henryclosing the the container with the same button it was opened is a common pattern in many games. separate loot all key (often space) / button is also common pattern.
-
14 Sep, '21
eosophobikCurrently you can go into the key bindings and change F to E. Then E works for everything F used to work for except loot all. You still have to press F to loot all in a box or body. Probably a bug, but a nice workaround for now.

IronFerret7 Days to Die has "R" as the loot-all hotkey. Could also do "Alt"+"R" to move all inventory items into the chest?
-

DreadPirate MergedIn many other games the button used to open a container can be used to close it. After playing this way for years, it's hard to break that habit.
I suggest the following (default keys):
F to open a container, F will close that container if pressed again.
When in a container, pressing E will loot all.
This will allow players to move in an out of containers quickly (you know when gutting a deer and a bear decides to join the party) while allowing a simple Loot All option.
We have a lot of people open a container and loot all by accident, then have to put all the items back into the container... we can always tell when we suddenly hear a few expletives pop up, out of nowhere ;) -

SilkI hit F to open and then F to close. That's my muscle memory from other survival games.
F to loot all for corpses is perfectly fine... but not for crafted storage. -

kininjaIs an issue if people keep having this problem. When I bound interact to a different key, this problem went away for me.

LizOI would make a suggestion of maybe changing the transfer button "T" maybe being able to press T while having the mouse cursor over for a single item to go back and forth from inventory to storage and maybe "Shift+ T" for transfer all. Love the progress and difficult of the game so far! :)

[SIX] Six6VITo reiterate: The same key that opens a container should also close it. This was doing my head in and wasting massive amounts of time, the most limited resource of all, having to resort storage.
Press F and hold F to revive a team mate was a really bad idea as it's way too easy to take ALL their stuff including what's on their hotbar and then have to stand there sorting it all back out while whatever killed them may still be present and coming back for both of you.
Dropping their stuff on the floor to give it back, where it gets lost in the undergrowth is also not very helpful. Could you please consider a direct interaction window where both players could load things into their own half of a 'trade' window and both click a 'confirm trade' button once you've agreed on the exchange. This could also include exotics as barter / payment for items made using tech levels you've decided not to take due to limited points eg. advanced weaponry.
Please! Stop auto adding overflow to the hotbar. -

MimiMy husband and I played many hours and would ask as well to fix the "f" button on loot chests, can not tell you how many times both of us looted all it ended up being a bit of comic relief through the gameplay but should be changed if possible. When a bear is attacking your house and you are weighed down with a full chest of ore from hitting "f" again............ well not good. lol

DanilothRemoving this and moving to a button has now made it slower/more-perilous harvesting animals since I now need to precisely move and click on the button to take the results of skinning that I just initiated by holding F. Very frustrating
-
25 Sep, '21
JohnI dislike the change. Please consider allowing the player to bind loot all to another key, or like the post above just change the key of the 'loot all'.
-
26 Sep, '21
DanilothSorry, an additional note. If you're struggling to rescue your equipment from some situation, i.e. out-of-bounds, the lack of the quick take-all button vs. fumbling to click on-screen can easily mean you die AGAIN. Having some other key for take-all would really help
-
26 Sep, '21
SyncedPlease do add a button to loot all! Having to use the mouse every time is very annoying (even if you can transfer with CTRL-click)
-

raggiCould we have "shift+F" for loot all, or the like?
-
26 Sep, '21
VladF should be an interaction button to open the chest (loot etc) and to close it. Same button to open and close make fast and easy. E would be a good option to take all.
-
27 Sep, '21
ZibnewskiI miss the hotkey for looting all. Shouldn't be F, but it would be nice to have it possible to bind a key to it. Some weird button like "home" would work fine imo.

NorbuThere are 2 entirely different use cases, currently handled by the program in the same way:
1. Opening storage spaces like chests:
In 90% of the cases, the player wants to take or put 1 or 2 items. "Take all" is almost never used, as it will overload the players inventory. "Open" and "Take all" on the same hotkey is deadly, since accidental double taps result in overencumberance and clutter.
2. Looting wildlife:
In 99% of the cases, the player wants to take all and mostly doesn't even look twice (all animals drop roughly the same stuff). But the player wants get it done quickly, so that he doesn't get caught by the next attack while still meddling with his inventory. This cries for a "Take all and close" hotkey. -
27 Sep, '21
Darth MordRemoving the key to easily take all from a container and replacing it with just the option to click a button (without any other means of easily taking all) is exceptionally poor UI design.
UI design should be all about adding ease of use, not removing useful functionality. It is notably more difficult to use a mouse to click a rather small button than it is to press a single key on a keyboard.
The change as implemented is a net negative as far as UX goes. -
27 Sep, '21
SaraRemoving F to loot all from chests and cabinets is a good change. Removing it from looting corpses is a very bad change. I don't think anyone ever asked to remove F to loot all for corpses.
-
28 Sep, '21
DreadPirateWe need a keyboard shortcut for loot all, just not the same key mapped to open storage.
For example, if F opens storage, then R could be loot all.
Also, having the same key to both open and close storage is useful. F to open, F to close... most survival games I play have this type of functionality.
Thanks! -
29 Sep, '21
Norbu@Sara: Haha, that's a classic in software design!
The users ask the devs to change a function, but don't understand the implications (in this case: it's the same UI for corpses and chests) and the developers do as asked without fully understanding the users intention (avoid accidentally emptying chests). The result is a change that causes problems in other use cases (like looting here). -
03 Oct, '21
NathanWe never asked for corpse! I assume these 2 UI features are the same storage device in the coding. Make a sperate keybinding for loot all!!!
I've seen Shift/Alt+F or even just "E" posted above in the comments. Please make this so!
ANYTHING is better! As soon as I saw the way the update was done, I instantly thought. "Oh god! The internet is gonna come after me for suggesting a change to this and they got it wrong"
