  I also noticed bears appearing and disappearing at random. sometimes right behind me when I was skinning even though I just checked all around in a open field.

  Thank you for reminding me.
  If bears spawning 15 metres away every few mins, and them "hearing" you when you stand perfectly still in a sealed building wasn't bad enough I learned the hard way that they walk up shear cliffs as easily as an Olympic athlete walks 'down' a gentle slope.
  So much for attempting to kite them.
  
  These bears are giving me PTSD.

  Was in the middle of building a base on a cliff. Had a ramp going up, a gap I could jump across, then a base built into the cliff. Was out collecting wood when a bear spotted me. I ran up, jumped the gap, then turned to find where the bear was. Meanwhile he climbs right up the cliff and gets behind me, knocking me off to my death. Animals shouldn't be able to climb directly up sheer cliff faces.

  Good god, this made me SO MAD!!! A bear climbs right up a cliff and kills me.. If I accidentally fall into a ledge and he sees me, I can literally not move while he's climbing 180 degree upward inclines.

  BEARS are unstoppable and that makes it FUN, Killing a bear is FUN, the RISK is FUN, if you stand on a cliff and shoot a bear and it can't climb up, WHAT is the challenge in that?? NOT FUN.....use other strategies, hunt as a party, build a defense, a Gun can either One shot or two shot a bear....killing a bear in water is easy, with out any threats to your Survival you make as well be playing duck hunter.

  I built a road up to a ledge on a mountainside and destroyed the road to the top. Stood on a platform and shot a bullet at a bear. Bear runs up and mauls me . WTF??

  I agree with IrishViking. Guns are a game changer when hunting bears. I truly think if all you had was a bow and arrow you'd be nearly dead every time against a bear IRL.. so I'm ok with them being difficult when you're still getting your feet wet on the planet.

  You've got to be kidding me .... vertical cliff and the polar bear climbed straight up it and KILLED me DEAD ... yes ... don't you get it Dev's ... I put a ramp/stone bases etc up and onto a cliff then shot a polar bear and he came over climbed straight up the cliff and killed me not ONCE but TWICE just to make sure I wasn't seeing things ... Fix it or I'm Thru ....

  This one is a bit annoying in that we think we are safe trying to shoot a bear but it just runs up any wall like it's nothing. Walls that we cannot even climb up, the bears seem to be able to

  So many times its bear that kills me, its annoying in that we think we are safe trying to shoot a bear but it just runs up any wall like it's nothing. Walls that we cannot even climb up, the bears seem to be able to... There patch finder needs fixing please as these bug issue is starting to put me off playing.

  bears area able to climb areas other creatures cant. like a sheer cliff face i cant even go up. makes it really hard to build high structures when they just pop up to the top

  Sometimes you can save yourself from a bear or a wolf by jumping on a high stone or climbing a rock, but in some cases bears and wolves simply ignore obstacles or go through textures and instantly rise up. Please try to fix this problem.

  Its one thing to keep the game challenging, but another when you work to what you think is a good strategic position to hunt/kill a bear and bam the bear almost flow to you.

  This bug was reported in BW2. It is now one week after release and nothing has been done. Dev please fix this bug. It is one thing to make the bear into a tank. They are big and strong and seriously scary. But please don't give them super powers on top of that. Please fix them so they don't run up vertical cliffs.

  I don't mind them walking up cliffs, bears like to climb trees irl i don't know how they would go up rock I imagine not well but they climb too fast, they should slowly make their way up so you can't just cheese them from up high but you also don't have to sprint away if a bear sees you from the bottom of a cliff.

  had a bear on waterfall expedition climb right up a literally mountain and walk around it to reach a plateau where i was. Players cant climb it neither can any other predators. Bears seem bugged

  All too often we get attacked by a bear that against all laws of physics drops from a cave ceiling, attacks from within rock faces, attacks through stone and rock, etc. I like to make huts out of hollowed out boulders and bears swipe and bite right through them. My latest death is from a bear that was attacking me inside a cave entrance. I never saw it until I was dead and it crawled out of the ceiling then did a SpiderMan and walked straight up a sheer cliff face.

  Valid, there's almost no leverage against bears when it comes to the terrain, they go vertical up the walls to get to you.

  bears are evil, i can relate! they climb rocks i strugle jumping throw, makeing the chase 99% of the times, mortal on early game.

  Bears - polar or otherwise should not be able to climb an 80 Degree mountain, but I'm finding out after attacking a polar bear from a ramp I built on the side of a mountain to avoid even dealing with vicious beast the thing climbed up the side of a almost almost vertical mountain and killed me... NOT POSSIBLE! please fix this issue with all the bears in the game they should not be able to climb an almost vertical mountain.

  I completely agree with this. I assume this was done as a game feature to prevent essentially what you were trying to cheese the fight. It really defeats the immersion to see a bear come straight up a wall to attack you. They are just giant health pools of pain. Better to avoid them when you can. Or fight them in the water.

  Okay, so I built a nerd pole up the side of a mountain cliff... Key word... CLIFF! Thought I'd snipe off a couple polar bears in relative safety eh? Not so... The first one I tagged ran right up the cliff and nearly ate me. I get that bears can climb, but this was just a little ridiculous... Ran, might also be too weak a term, it looked more like it just teleported up the wall.. Perhaps someone on the dev team ought to get on the side of a mountain and take a couple pot shots at the bears... See just how bad the pathing and their ability to climb really is.

  Yeah, it's pretty common. Bears are defying the laws of physics in this game. Just like a tiny bunny hitting a downed tree so hard the tree fly's up and gives you a concussion.

  This is crazy and just unfair. Challenging enough as it is. Heck might as well have them climb up when the cliff doesn't go up straight but actually out a little as to create an overhang.

  ~85 degree rock formation: Me standing in ~6m height and the bear just "porting" up there (it's obviously no longer climbing) and pushing me down finishing me instantly… One of the latest patches to bears is just borked. I expect physics to be existent for players AND all animals. The same physics. Or you could replace "bears" with "rockets covered in fur" as they are behaving exactly like this ignoring any physics applying to players.

  I was on top of a sheer cliff face, maybe a good 50 foot drop down and a bear did some glitch gymnastics and parkoured up to the top and slapped me off the side, breaking my legs and then he jumped down without breaking any of its legs and killed me, then slept on top of my corpse. What a crazy world.

  During Icestorm: Expedition, the final polar bear run up the side of cliff face, to where you place the radar. Another player was located here and was swatted at by the polar bear. Resulting in being punted from the top of the rock like a football landing about 25 feet to the west. Comical and annoying at the same time.
