[Suggestion] Make trees respawn
I have noticed that when you cut a bunch of trees, they don't respawn. Thats fine, but when the forest catches on fire and burns the whole map of trees, where do you get wood from?
The trees and veg need to spawn eventually in the forest areas, not near build sites.

Gamer DNAOr allow us to take saplings and plant them so a new tree grows.

Geert HielI agree with Gamer DNA.
It would be ubercool if a prospector could plant trees and/or plants where he wants it.
(Off course in fertile ground :-)$ ) -

PeaceTakerI also agree with DNA, it would be good to plant, so they do not re-grow where you cut them down to clear land (for visibility or building), but you could re-plant them where you want them, and if you need them.

Paul Spencer MergedCould do with re-seeding the biome as when trees are cut down they don't grow back!

Yesman523I also agree with Gamer DNA. I would also go as far to say make it so that 1 out of 4 trees drops a sapling or some kind of random loot drop spawn so it doesn't make it to easy to get trees. I like the difficulty of this game and would be nice to keep it that way even for important resources.

JoewAlabelI igree with the authors suggestion and with Gamer DNA too.
And i am going to tell more:
Allow trees respawns only if you DO NOT CUT the tree stub. So if you want to tree respawn, you do not cut the stub but if u want to those specific tree not respawn again (maybe because you want to build something at that place) you cut off the stub too. Its a good way to manage wich tress will respawn and wich ones will not.
And the ability to get seeds and plant new ones where you want. -

MarilithAnother option is to spawn small trees (the ones you can grab by hand for sticks) periodically around big trees, this simulates seeds falling and growing. Then, if there isn't a big tree within a certain radius (blocking the sun and such), small trees can be replaced by big ones after a certain time (and while a player isn't looking). In this way, players can control where trees regrow by intentionally leaving the periodic big tree to drop seeds and repopulate the area or clear cut and not worry about trees popping up in their yard. Giving folks a compelling reason to NOT gather everything in sight can be cool too.

cornevdbFrom what I seem to have noticed in-game:
Foliage grows (good source for fiber), which grows into bushes (source for fiber and sticks), who grow into small trees (good source for sticks), who grow into full-grown trees.
However, the prospect didn't last long enough to see the new trees become full-grown, so I can't fully confirm. -

AzzieGamer DNA:
Or allow us to take saplings and plant them so a new tree grows.
^This for sure, it'll also allow players to make their base surroundings more visually pleasing with planted trees/bushes. -

DYou have chosen a beautiful place in the middle of the forest to build a house. And then a thunderstorm and lightning burned down the entire forest in the area. And now you live in a scorched desert. It would be good if there was an opportunity either to plant and grow trees themselves or to be able to somehow protect the surrounding space from a forest fire.

LianailI'm for using the shovel to dig up saplings and replant them in fertile soil. Perhaps place a crop plot that gets destroyed after a rooting period and the tree finally takes hold?

AcidPsycho79This would be great. I agree with everyone the ability to replant trees and saplings would be a great QOL improvement. Or if you're like me and get super unlucky and get 5+ thunderstorms in the first in-game week all of which start forest fires. Sometimes it feels more like a firefighting sim trying to create fire breaks to keep them from spreading too far and burning all your usable wood, stick, and fiber supplies.

MekatReplanting trees / regrowing trees... I've been play open world for a while now and my base in the riverlands now looks like the aftermath of an aussie bushfire...
If flashstorms on Icarus are as frequent as they're occurring in game, if the trees don't grow enough quickly to compensate, there would be no possible way for forests to exist on Icarus. -

EngimageIt is a major issue while playing Open World. Forest fires destroy everything around and is actually hurting aesthetics of things.
I hope it gets fixed along with the whole Open World resource regeneration -

Desymoo MergedI would really appreciate a better way to deal with forest fires in open world, or at least a way to replant an area that was cleared of its trees. It's incredibly saddening to watch the entire forest near your permanent base get turned into ash, both ruining the aesthetic of the area and also chunking a huge portion of your wood supply.
It's made a lot worse by the fact that most attempts to control a newly started fire are pointless or sometimes even seem to make it worse - the fire whacker does nothing for tree fires, and if I can't spam 'e' fast enough to clear the undergrowth around the trees then it spreads too quickly and eventually crashes my game.
I realize you're not really meant to put fires out quickly early game, so I think the best solution here would be adding the ability to replant trees. That way I can just let the fires burn knowing that I can go back and replant later on. No being on fire, no game crashes, everybody wins. -

CuendillarMy main base in my Styx Open World map has survived many storms on normal difficulty but the trees have not... After 5/6 hours of gameplay there aren't any trees left in a radius around my base that would take 15 seconds of sprinting to cross. This is due to nearly every storm over that time period either knocked down 5-8 trees per storm or struck lightning in 2/3 places that ends up burning 3/4 trees.
The fewer trees there were around my base the more likely it seemed they would be "selected" by the storm to be knocked down. It was laughable how i was able to correctly predict which trees were next based on distance from my standing position.
At the rate your storms are designed to occur and knock down trees the trees should never have lived long enough to grow that tall. I never cared about this aggressively designed storm mechanic until i started playing an open world map. Thanks to this issue my base is surrounded by a barren landscape that used to be forest.
