[Suggestion] Interior Wood Should be able to attach to the inside of walls
When I saw the Interior Wood building, I thought the idea was really great, but I was disappointed to see that you can't attach to the insides of your Stone Walls.
I like the idea of the refined wood and now the copper nails for it aren't too costly. And it's super light and almost more economical to carry for temporary structures. But you should be able to at least make use of it in a stone house, because that's the other downside.
Refined wood would be plenty strong, but where this is in the tech tree it almost feels like a waste. I want to make the entire inside of my structure look nice, and also believe this stuff should have some added durability because it is not just basic wood structures.

I would love this so much. I enjoy base building veeeery much in games and I spend hundreds on hours on it. But this at times infuriates me. I love the look of the interior wood walls, but it only takes two storms to destroy my house. And what happenes when I'm gone for a mission? I dont know yet, but I will probably come back to a ruin. What I also would love: You already have dye in the game. Just give me a paint brush for the walls and I would be in heaven! Maybe like in "7 days". There are so many options with wall colors and wallpaper. I really miss that in icarus. -

SophionBlackInterior wood attached just fine to the inside of stone walls for me. Did you try placing the interior wood before the exterior stone? I think that's how I ended up doing it because I upgraded the stone floors to that.

ZogTheHogI was not able to get these to work with a stone exterior, I wasn't able to place them both down. But I think even if you found a way to, the way this works could be a little more intuitive and I think these pieces should be able to snap to the insides, and also if you put one over a window or a door wall it should just make the inside look this way, the outside look however depending on the all you use, and the openings still work

NatrashI didn't use the carpentry, as it has no real interest except visual.
I would be much more interesting if the interior woods give a structure bonus also. -

Gonzalo Ibarz MergedIt would be great to pop up interior woods on the back of the other's walls just to make houses and building better looking. For example, build stone wall and cover the back side with interior wood wall instead those wood beams and the same for concrete...

Paul Price MergedAs far as I can tell you can only replace stone with 'interior wood' but it would be great to be able to have a stone building that's resistant to storms but also with a nice interior.

DarquanYes! I want so much to make a cozy bedroom with all walls covered by fine wood. We make fine wood at carpentry station, I wish there was a mechanic where take some and attach to the railings on the inner part of stone walls, or concrete walls. And I wouldn't mind if it added some temperature isolation.

ApexAZ MergedInterior wood should simply retexture the interior side of an existing piece. With the way it is now, you basically have to craft an exterior shell and build an interior wood structure inside. Make it still use the resources, but just retexture an existing piece on one side.

W2D2 MergedI was expecting the same but figured out interior wood is just a nice looking wall.
Interior wood should attach onto the beams on the inside of the walls and adding a nice look and added buffs. A simple retexture should work fine. -

travis MergedI thought the same thing. I was hoping it was for for paneling for inside of my rock and concrete walls to clean up the interior look. be nice if we could fab some drywall and paint.

Dan Danese MergedWe like the stone and concrete walls. Gives us security from storms and better protection from animals and falling trees. But it's not pretty to look at internally. It'd be great to be able to apply the interior wood to the inside faces of the outside siding. This would give us the ability to make the outside strong and the inside cozy. As an aside, being able to paint the walls and roofs would also be awesome. That would open the design arena by a lot.

Wesley Freitas MergedI definitely agree. The interior wood flooring already applies correctly to foundations (I have only tried concrete and stone).
It would be aesthetically pleasing to be able to snap the interior pieces to the inside of others, especially since walls and ceilings like concrete and stone appear to have support textures on the inside. -

Kaerrak MergedFirst sorry for bad english.
More option to decorate your base.
Like - Taxidermy - wolf life-size statue, deer, etc. (trophy bench ----- taxidermy bench)
Option to attach interior wall to stone wall from inside (whitout wood beam to glitch through roof.)
Maybe option to put something on table - like material processor.
Maybe weapon holder on wall (something like trophy) -

David D MergedYou have really nice looking stone / concrete walls from the outside, but the inside looks very unfinished. The ability to "stick" the interior walls to the inside of stone / concrete walls would give more creative looks. Possibly more buffs in relation to heat / cold resistance.

Steven MergedIs there a possibility to enable or add snapping of the Interior Wood to the for example the stone or Concrete walls and roof to make the inside a bit more pretty and further insulate? Like Concrete Wall +15 insulation + the Interior Wood Wall +3 Insulation = +18 Insulation. There is already a snapping option for the Concrete Frame and Interion Wood Floor.

GP Patch MergedAdding the ability to place interior walls. Maybe a track or frame system to allow this? Example: Stone outer wall for protection with a finished wooden wall inside for appearance.

Crashblade MergedSince we now have permanent structures in the OW, a nice QOL feature would be interior walls that snap to the inside of the exterior walls. This is currently possible with stone and concrete foundation pieces, but this is not optimal in every scenario. This makes it a lot easier to do then just having to get creative to place other pieces in order to achieve the desired effect. Just compare to your existing home where you don't see the interior beams. For now, the existing texture that the stone and concrete have are fine. The existing interior wood walls should also be functional in this manner a well. A littler slider with a "stain" color selector wouldn't hurt for added flair.
With the addition of the interior wall now comes the improved ability to hide electrical and water pipes behind the interior wall. The one minor tweak the cable/pipe tool needs is just to allow it to snap in a linear fashion rather than making those weird loops at the ends where cable/pipe. -

Rat152 Mergedfor more advanced structures have the internal wiring and heating invisible/ internal to the wall or floor?
have all pipes and electrical allowed to be hidden from view?
this would help reduce graphics loads as well? -

Trulith MergedIt would be nice to have options for interior walls. Such as concrete/rock/etc. shelter on the outside with an interior wall finish. In practice, you could snap an interior wall to the opposite side of another wall.

RJS MergedIt would go a long way towards making nice looking constructions, if after we set up the primary structure of a house / building, we then could attach another wall to the interior side.
Ie I build a house with concrete panel back faced with steel beams and columns which I have see in the interior. I then attach another wall element to the that interior face of the concrete panel for example a dressed timber wall, in order to make the interior nicer.
I should be able to do this with all building elements for ceilings and walls, similar to how you can attach a floor to a foundation. -

J P MergedJust a thought, but once having constructed my beautiful (I like it!) and well-appointed base, I then had to wire in and plumb all of the benches, aquaria, crop plots etc and suddenly the floor, walls and ceilings are covered in 'ugly' utilities...
At the risk of making comparisons, could you not implement a system like that in use in Ark and allow a 'Hide' option for pipes n' wires?
Putting an electronics tool/water tool in your hand would - of course - make them all visible and amendable again, but surely if I can make a concrete wall I could also have the foresight to add cable management and unobtrusive plumbing too? -

Peaceful Jim MergedI know there are already suggestions for letting us use interior wood as the material on the inside of walls, but I'd like to add to this further by suggesting that we should be able to CHOOSE what material we can use on the inside of walls from existing materials.

anticlimber MergedThis is one that I'd really like to see. One of the most beautiful things about modern wood interiors is that there are some stunning interiors that can be created.
You can search Google for "cross laminated timber interior" to get a feel for what's possible.
The main thing from an Icarus player's standpoint is being able to create a "wood-lined" interior for buildings. I was originally looking for a feature upvote around filling out the shapes available with roofing...but this suggestion makes the most sense. It's probably also the hardest to implement.
For bonus points, allow choices of wood and stain ;) -

Noah MergedThe ability to place walls in the same spot, as long as they are facing in different directions. A way to add insulation and primarily, decoration. I find the inside of walls to be very ugly and want to be able to make it prettier. For example, I love the look of concrete on the outside, and (would) the look of brick walls on the inside.

RustyLHWhy not just allow/create the ability to put any texture we want on the inside of walls? Those i-beams look amazing on the inside of a concrete wall, when it's in your workshop area, but not so much when it's on the interior walls of your kitchen, living room area, or bunk area. And they can mess with the ability to place pictures, trophies, lights, etc...
Stone brick would look amazing as a backsplash behind your kitchen counters/stove/sink, etc.
The same would be great for either side of a concrete floor. The i-beams will look great as the ceiling for the workshop, but then allow wood, or stone brick, etc., for the upper side, which may be the floor for the bunk room, kitchen, etc...
I would pay for all of this in an "Advanced Builder's Package" DLC. -

PhilosopherYes, I would LOVE this! Being forced to look at the inside of the concrete walls all the time is awful. The bricks-types with the wooden beans are better, but I would really love to be able to make the inside of my exterior walls look nice as well.
As far as I am concerned there's no need to make a whole snapping functionality for it as I have learned how hard it is to edit those assets and still have them work. Instead, do what the modding community has previously done and create official assets with a pretty interior and add those as options under the R-key variations. Start with the concrete walls as those are the ugliest and yet most durable. Players can then choose either the more industrial-looking ones with the steel or the cozy ones with the interior wood.
I know, technically that means people can have a type of interior wood which doesn't get damaged, small sacrifice. -

alienraven MergedOne of the common problems of survival games, including Icarus is that with growth of tier of the building blocks\materials visual appeal is reduced.
For example, wooden and stone structures looks fantastic, because of texture and depth. Concrete buildings on the other hand look like a shoe box. Moreover inside part of concrete buildings is straight ugly - metal beams give a feeling that you leave in an abandoned factory.
Other problem is that when rooms with different interior are neighbors - you have to choose which neighbor visuals will dominate - i.e. stone wall or wooden interior one from the next room, including ceiling\floor for multistory buildings.
To heal this I suggest to rework building slightly to allow each wall\floor\ceiling to consist of two building blocks - interior and exterior. Concrete wall for outside part, while wooden interior wall inside - similar to how you can place floor over frame block.
I believe that would allow much more in terms of base de -

Apollyon MergedWhen I place down a wall-structure I want to hold R to swich to a wall that has interior texture on BOTH sides. I want to see interior wood on both sides.
It´s probably not hard to add this small change to the game. It makes base look better. -

IcemanI like the idea of a internal wall, rather than just a texture. Add a interior wall panel with a selection of wallpaper/textures for the walls, floor, ceiling. We do have paint already.
