[Suggestion] Tree growth and replanting suggestion
As title suggests and as how systems into growing trees are being considered officially. Using available systems such as farming and seeds would be beneficial.
Change Static tree objects to 3 different objects accordingly with corresponding seeds
Spruce -> Spruce Seed
Mangrove -> Mangrove Seed
Birch -> Birch Seed
Seeds cannot be planted in planters, Prospector will need to Utilize shovel and watering can to plant and feed sapling. After X amount of time the sapling grows into the aforementioned new Object class (see above) affected by all weather conditions and being prone to lightning strikes and being toppled over
Possible rework of calling features to how weather systems affect trees needed.

DrayWith stumps already being in the game, an approach like grounded would work. If you leave the stumps, they regrow. If you remove the stump, they don't. Simple approach.

MattInventory already gets clogged too easily by picking up byproducts. If they add this they need a way to filter out what you want to pickup automatically while harvesting.

ChaosMarko MergedHi, so i was thinking that there could be a way to get wood again, either by growing them in "large" crop plots or by "natural" ways, it would add a feeling that the forest is regrowing itself.

Drew MergedMy thought would be to have trees drop seeds when cut down, that could be planted in the open ground using a shovel that would likely have a slower growth cycle even than other plants grown just in the soil, such that would could build things and not deforest the area we are working in.

MelanieAfter some hours ingame my place is barren. I even do not cut the trees, the lightning storms burns all of them. It destroys my fun.

TaiI'm surprised this isn't upvoted more. I think this is very much needed and not clear that you need to leave stumps for regrowth. All the tree felling / burning from lightning strikes centralized around the player means it becomes very barren around player bases and takes away from the views you may have built there for, most of the time not at player fault. It also breaks me out of the immersion of the game; how are these trees that are native (Prometheus) getting blown over from the wind only immediately around me when they've been growing for what could be hundreds of years? Also the weird fall towards the player mechanic instead of like... a single wind direction is absolutely immersion breaking.

SkyDragon15 Mergedwe already can get seedlings in the workshop for fruits and vegetables. Can we get tree seedlings their too. It would be kind of cool to replant trees in areas that have been deforested. And also maybe have a variety. Like: maple, weeping willow, birch ect.. You have gone out of your way to create a lot of great cosmetic looks in Icarus. I think this would also be a great look to the game. Especially in the open worlds.

SkyDragon15 MergedAs you have given us seeds for vegetables and fruits. Can we get tree seedlings from the workstation. To be able to replant deforested locations? You have done such an awesome job with creating and giving us a great detailed game. It would only add to that if we could replant trees. It would also be nice if we could have a choice of trees to plant. Like Maple, Birch, weeping willow ect..

RocketTurtle MergedWith wind events and lightning strikes, my cozy cabin in the woods now sits in the middle of a huge field of desolation. Any sort of mechanic to regrow trees would be very welcome.
Something as simple as planting a stick where a tree once stood and have it turn into a sapling that eventually grows into a full sized tree. -

JBThe ability to manage and care for the environment, especially around our base, as it seems that is where most of the lightening strikes, would be highly beneficial to the look and feel of the game. Lightening causes so much damage to the foliage and trees, leaving much of the immediate woodlands looking shabby and barren and does the pristine look of the game no justice at all. We could have an additional talent (Tree Management) giving us the ability to plant new trees and bushes, separate from the harvestable resource kind, to replace trees and shrubs that once existed, and like for like, not to create or grow additional ones. Like with planter boxes, remove the stumps or burnt bushes and plant a new one. We start with a pristine map, some of us would like to keep it that way.

Spoose MergedIronically, the only type of regular resource that there is no way of renewing are trees, i.e. would and sticks(fiber can be made by destroying rope made from leather). Trees will get struck by lightning or get knocked down in a storm, and eventually de-spawn. This is annoying when you are trying to preserve of vegetation around your open world base. I'd like a system where you can plant a tree, or they could grow back slowly on their own.

LastvesreMay be both seed planting and stump regrowth for new tree as burnt tree leave no stump?
My new hard open world Olympian base is at L12 lake and 20 reach level 30 yet, but there are so many storms after storms like never before, that burn tree around the lake almost completely.
Also seed planted and stump should growth by itself but take a while to limit wood spamming, which need watering or fertilized by player as key factor to boost growth speed. -

KalechBeing able to decorate the outside of the base is just as important as the inside, and being able to regrow trees would be a great step.

Norsil MergedCould it be possible for a player to plant more trees? As a solo player in open world play, the accumulative damage caused by storms (which are fantastic) result in a complete barren landscape surrounding any base of operations i setup and operate from (much the same as a thumper's influence). Maybe an attachment could be installed on an axe so that when it’s used, some tree seeds appear. With a spade these collected seeds could be planted. Over the next few days these become full grown trees are ready to continue this cycle. An activity that could keep a player busy from time to time. This would also allow local harvesting with impact on the aesthetics of the area.

Nedseri dont know why this isnt a thing yet i mean this is no mind breaking new feature like every survival game has that, a game like Icarus must have it.
like the randomly growing small Trees (for sticks) should get to actual ones if you let them grow -

PhilosopherI realize tree respawn has been implemented (and I do admire the sensational nature of said implementation), but I have been wondering why you did not simply use the "leave the stump, tree will be whole again on reload or timer" method. Seems so much easier to implement. Also, you could now choose to add the small bushes and stick saplings to this respawn.
As for growing trees in custom locations, I realize that all trees are in static locations. What you could do is to create a "tree plot/planter" and have trees drop seeds. You could link the tree to the plot instead of the terrain. Then players can put a nice little tree in their courtyard.
Slightly unrelated, I would love it if you made the stick saplings a growable crop. Then create a wood-alternative called "compressed wood" where you can create wood from sticks. Serves as an alternative (possibly lower tier) renewable source of wood.
