[Bug] Crops grown on the ground are maturing below the mound

Crops grown on the ground must be grown on mounts, but they are maturing at some point below the ground. This makes it very difficult to harvest them with a sickle as the game wants to highlight the mound above the crop. For taller crops, this doesn't matter, but the submerged growth becomes an issue with ground-lying crops like watermelons.
Can the whole crop graphic be elevated so it appears and can be interacted with as easily as in a crop plot?
