  I'd love some sort of filter on the cooking UI where I could list recipes that had 1, 2 ,3 or 4 ingredients as an example. Generally, more ingredients = better food. Also being able to filter on ingredients would be handy - 'show me all recipes that use wheat' as an example. Mousing over each of the many recipes is a pain but I do like the variety available.

  I'd go even further than and say this sort of thing to be truly useful, cooking benches need to provide a UI that somehow groups recipes by their effects.
  
  Multiple recipes map to each set of stat buffs. When you're deciding what to cook, that's all you're really looking at (along with if you have ingredients for a recipe that gives a certain set of buffs)
  
  Making a UI that groups recipes under headings by the set of stat buffs would let us avoid mousing over recipes. We'd instead see the stat buff categories listed first, choose which set we'd like to go for, and then cook whatever underlying recipe we have ingredients for.
  what you're really looking at, not the whether are many recipes that have the same effect, so categorizing them in some way would make it much easier to decide what to cook. The idea is to choose recipies first by effect, and under that select whichever actual recipe you have ingredients for.

  An additional filter would be to rank order status effects you want and to provide a list of the ones that have the most of those and grey out the ones you can't make. Additionally, display 4-5 best options, depending on food slots, and include at least one of each requested status effect in one of the suggested foods.
