[Bug] Buffalo Cart and contents totally disappear after buffalo gets killed
I have now had two occurrences of different maps and mission where I have cleared out an entire cave of minerals and loaded the buffalo cart and lost the entire cart and contents. Buffalo gets attacks and dies and car and contents disappears with buffalo. Please fix, should leave cart and contents intact when buffalo dies. It worked when it first came out but one of the updates broke this.

Happened to me today, too sad to hear people having this issue years ago and yet still have...
My buffalo was brutally murdered by a wolf pack, nothing to do. Pet was marked on the map, yet dissapeared for unknown reasons. Quite impossible to take the loot back from the dead body when carrying a cart full of things.....
I made a print when he died, but now it just gone, i came back to the place but nothing at all, not even a bag or something, all gone...
sending print from the map now, never logged off untill i came back to get back all my loot..
I tried to tam a new buffalo, let it grow and everything... never logging out just in case loot dissapear. When my buffalo grew up i went there but nothing... really sad -

KHayden MergedOur tamed Buffalos and 300 plus exotics disappeared suddenly and a friend fell through the world dying. I think it was a glitch, but we are so not impressed with the fact we ended up wasting our time on this mission.

Elissa - Producer AdminHi there, I've just tested this and all of my cart contents including the cart come back in an overflow bag. (I have found one bug where the heavy item slots don't return items, and have passed this over to a dev to look into). Do you have any videos or screenshots of this happening? Where abouts on the map were you when this happened? Could the overflow bag have been flung somewhere nearby? Thanks!

Wyze MergedI rode my buffalo with a "Basic Riding Saddle" to a distant cave to harvest resources and carried the "Buffalo Pack Harness" in the inventory of the empty "Basic Riding Saddle". Arriving at the cave I was attempting to swap the "Basic Riding Saddle" and "Buffalo Pack Harness". The plan was to fill the "Buffalo Pack Harness" and then walk back to camp with all of the resources on the buffalo. HOWEVER, I did not pull the "Buffalo Pack Harness" out of the inventory of the "Basic Riding Saddle" before pulling it off of the buffalo. Pulling the Saddle off caused the "Buffalo Pack Harness" to completely vanish. It would be nice if it could at least drop into a lootable on the ground when a player makes this mistake or even attempt to go directly into the player inventory rather than completely vanish.

GeorgeOverflow bad was not where in area and I searched in cave below area to see if it dropped into cave. Buffalo was killed by a Moe. I will lookup mission and map coordinates and update notes.

Jean-Marc MergedTwice on a few days games, my buffalo (and me) got killed by a bear (open world, Olympus) Twice I was able to recover all my personal gear and inventory, But everything the buffaloes carried disappeared (in a cart with a mega mine loot, and in the large saddle with dehumidifier, drills, stone building parts...) It take forever to replace all this. Frankly, at this point, I do not see the point in continuing playing. Great game otherwise. This happened on March 17 and today March 19.

Jean-MarcElissa, the buffalo with the cart completely full of gear and ores vanished March 17 in the narrow passage along H3. My personal inventory was marked as a grave sign and fully recovered. The second buffalo was with the pack saddle, maybe 12 of the 16 slots used. I happen March 19 in E3 (lower right corner, south of the river in a forest. Again, I later recovered all my inventory and worn clothes marked with a tombstone. I play solo on Olympus open world. I have not done any missions yet. I wonder what happened there and why. (I previously recovered buffalo's cart/saddle contents without trouble. Thank you in advance.

Georgethis time had cart and mount disappear while diving into under water caves on IRONCLAD: Research Mission in lake at grid J7. I left mount with cart floating on water in middle of lake where under water cave entrance is. Went to cave on the right and mined and returned to load cart. Then when I went to second cave on left and mined and returned, no buffalo , no cart, no cargo bag, totally disappeared

Kizmar MergedOn a Prometheus open world instance, I noticed when a mount dies, I loose everything in it's inventory, and the saddle. Is that a bug? I thought for sure when they died in the other open world game, I could loot those things.

EA MergedIn multiplayer both player and mount disappeared when the player got disconnected while mounted. When the player logged back in mount did not reappear and was nowhere on map. I watched this happen multiple times.

Darena Bryant MergedAs it is, the cart is kind of a ghost. It's not a solid item (you can walk right through it, it sticks to walls and ceilings as much as it does the ground, you can't ride in it because it's not there to ride in), and so it doesn't exist outside of being linked to the mount. I would be willing to accept this being changed to the cart being a solid item if it also meant it remained behind in case of an accident with your mount and you could unload it over time, or that the player could move it, even very slowly, when it was empty.

MaximT Merged1) To prevent such situations, I recommend making a complete save of your character’s progress. With it, in case of any unforeseen problems, it will always be easy to do a ‘full rollback’.
(including everyone reading this): always regularly save your Icarus to a separate folder on another partition of the drive (or flash drive). (disable Steam clouds, otherwise, when you manually return your saves, there is a chance that Steam cloud will return the original saves.)
-------->! You need to save the entire directory c:\Users\”name your windows account”\AppData\Local\Icarus\Saved
Including to avoid such problems here as well.
2) You can also try to ‘roll back’ the save via a backup file, which is done every half hour or when you exit to the ‘character selection’ menu; until the loss of inventory occurred.
A fairly detailed description (by analogy)

RaylanGiveNZAs per the comment above from Wyze (18 Mar, '23)
I directly switched from the Buffalo Harness to the Cart as I needed more transport space. When I did so, the Overflow bag appeared, but the Bulky items vanished. Two Electric Extractors.
Granted, when I did the swap I was next to my shack. So the overflow bag appear on the roof, not on the ground. So it may be that I thought I had collected everything, and didn't go back to double check the overflow bag was empty until it was too late (24 hours game time, and a reload later....) -

The Space Prophet MergedI now have had 2 instances where items kept in cart attached to buffalo disappear when I log back in.
Another event that happens concurrently is a session timeout when logging in.
Workaround I have to use is ensuring that there is a way for me to off load items before logging out. Unfortunately that creates problems when that's not possible and it limits my game experience.
I can work around it but this will turn some people off the game,
Further information will be shared to provide better understanding. -

RedRose1422 MergedI just had the same issue. Mine had the inventory full of different ores and lost it all. And I do not necessarily want to do the roll back method as I do not know when it happened since I was in a cave mining other ores.

AngelaI have run into this issue, however, it was not a cart, but my horse and I lost everything on him, when his body just vanished. A Death box for tamed animals might be something worth doing like you have done with the player characters.

Adonis MergedHaving to do a back up save and reload is not ideal. I would rather the mount just drop it's items; I put valuable content like load out stuff on my mount: which I will no longer due after this last issue.

Khambatt MergedThis is an infuriating bug. My team has lost three level 30+ mounts in the one week we have been playing, one was a buffalo loaded w ore. We are playing on a g-portal hosted server for the last three days, but it also happened on a self hosted server.

MachaonA similar thing just happened to me. Solo playing with a pretty long corpse run. I think the problem was that the mount corpse had decayed by the time I got back to the area (yet the two arctic scorpions I killed in the battle were still there for me to skin. Gee, thanks). So can we maybe increase the corpse decay time of the mounts? Like, by orders of magnitude? They might be important.

Glenn PetersenSomething like this happened to me today. Only my buffalo didn't die. I was at my base, just having returned with a cart full of ores. I pulled out the exotics and called an orbital exchange to send the exotics up. I decided then that I would upload a Moa as well. The message said that it's inventory needs to be empty before it can get uploaded and asked about creating an overflow bag with it's contents. Fine. Once I sent the orbital exchange on it's way, I returned to my buffalo to empty the cart of ores - only to find it empty! Also, there was no overflow bag to be found anywhere near my base. I thought, well maybe it's just a glitch so I logged off - I'm single player on Olympus - and then logged back on. Checked my buffalo and the cart was gone!. That just took any motivation away to keep playing this game. I think I'll shelve Icarus until this is fixed. Doesn't look like there is a way in single player to "cheat" these items back in, unless I'm missing something.
