[Bug] Enclosed Tames not drinking from natural resources anymore
At my desert compound, the pen for the animals included a little corner of the pond the tames could access to drink. I originally tried a water trough it was ALWAYS empty. So having a corner with the open water source worked great. In the last month this has ceased to work and the animals are always without water. Is this a bug, or was this removed as never intended? Once out of the enclosure, they will run to the water...so I know that the coding is still allowing them to drink from ponds/streams. Thanks

Peaceful Jim MergedThe issue isn't so much that they don't walk to drink and eat (they do, if there isn't anything in their way), but rather that if there is a blocker to their path, they cannot 'go around'. This kind of ties into why I don't ever bother with the buffalo and cart. It just gets stuck on so many things and stops. Their AI still needs improvement.

TomTamed animals lose the ability to eat and drink normally, as they have done their entire life thus far. Why? It's just to make keeping them more of a hassle, I guess. Yeah, it is annoying.

Anabanana MergedNo matter what I do my wolf tames won't drink. They just walk back and forth to the water trough all day. They perform the animation but their water bar never goes up. I've tried every type of water trough but I still have to give them drinks manually!

DoubleBread MergedI am experiencing the same issue a year later. Bowls functioned properly with my first (now deceased) dogs but the new ones don't actually consume water although they never leave the bowl because they're constantly thirsty. It stays fully filled.

Dani MergedI recently brought my chicken in from a different map into promethus and it will not drink water. I've moved the water trough over directly over the coop in hopes of it drinking. It still wouldn't drink. The chicken only drinks if hand fed. I know they can't die from it but the chickens need the water to create eggs. Is anyone else having this issue?

EventideAnother vote - have also been seeing this problem with Tames not drinking from open water sources in the desert. In some cases the icon will appear over the tame, but they won't move to water or drink - even if by following the player, they are standing in it.
This is separate from problems with smaller tames like wolf/boar/hyena moving to water, going through drinking animation, but failing to connect with water. Whether that is a player trough or open source (in other biomes).
Cave water sources are especially hit or miss. Tames will try to move to the water's edge, and sometimes in a cave they end up on a slight rise above the water line and don't connect during drinking animation.
Fix: I am imagining the invisible size of their "tongues," making this larger, so they are more likely to connect to water ;)

JDHave seen this behavior with wolves too, they refused to drink from the huge pond they had free access too. My base was on the island in the initial/recommended landing point on Olympus. Literally had water surrounding the place and they refused to drink even when down to zero thirst bar.
Also, the plumbed trough DID NOT quench their thirst, it wasn't until I installed the electric water trough that they FINALLY were able to drink from either all the water surrounding us, or the wood trough connected to plumbing that didn't seem to work. -

Berticus MergedI think there is a bug where they will not drink if they are hungry. They will get stuck in the drinking animation but will not actually drink unless their hunger bar is filled up. Placing a food bowl / trough nearby fixes the issue.

Amachamort MergedThe mounts and pets have a bug where if you build your base with pillar over water or near it, they want to drink from the lake/river/sea and not from their water through (of any kind even the DLC one). This happen even when the pet/mount is set to only eat and drink from assigned through only.
Pets on Hitching Post are only looking to go to the water source even with one on their side next to them and don't want to drink from the through even after a long time. The wolf also still want to drink from the river/lake even if we full his water by using out canteen on him and stay stuck like in the attached picture.
The horses and other mount goes into the water to drink from the other side of the lake and stay stuck in the water because of that. -

Joanna MergedAll of my pets and mounts refuse to eat or drink from the available containers. I've tried setting allow list settings, non-allow list, it doesn't matter. My guard dogs keep trying to get into the barn to eat/drink from the inside containers. They won't stop barking about it and I hate it. I sent them all back to the station... Please fix!
